Vietnamese "Cinderella"
Hello! I noticed you added a new section to the article "Cinderella" about a Vietnamese version of the story. I would like to inform you that this article actually previously included a different section on this story, but I deleted it because the section was uncited and did not specify which text the story comes from or how old it is. I would greatly appreciate it if you would please add a citation to support the version of the story you describe, as well as reference to the original source of the tale and its age. If you do not add these details and a reference to a reliable source to support them, I am afraid I will have to delete the new section you added, since all content added to Wikipedia must be cited to a reliable source. Thank you very much and happy editing! --Katolophyromai (talk) 19:31, 8 September 2017 (UTC)
Your contribution in the article Vietnames language: multiple analyses of vowels
Hi Togira Ikonoka,
you are writing ".. I'm under the impression that the Hanoi dialect is regarded by the Vietnamese government and by the learning community as 'standard').." My remarks: Since 1975, i.,e. after the victory of the communist North Vietnam over the pro-western South Vietnam, the Hanoi government systematically SUPPRESSES the southern language, including the wordings, the literature, the southern pronunciation, ... At the same time the Hanoi government is taking EVERY STEP TO "MARKET" the northern vietnamese dialect as standard vietnamese dialect, even though northern pronunciation does not always match with the written wordings. Neither the southern dialect does always match with the written wordings. That ist the science-based reason why vietnamese language is consisting of at least 3 dialects.
Please mention that in South Vietnam, before 1975, all vietnamese dialects (northern, central, southern) are EQUAL VALUE, even though southern vietnamese is the MAIN DIALECT in South Vietnam. In state-owned and non state-owned media (TV, Radio, Newspapers, Literature, Dictionaries) alle 3 dialects are treated with the same high respect. But since 1975, north vietnamese dialect "DOMINATES" state-owned and non state-owned media.
In short: The language strategy of the Hanoi government is to totally erase the south vietnamese culture icluding the dialect, the wordings, the written language, the literature , ...
As far as the "learning community" is concerned, each "GOOD" vietnamese teacher will teach the vietnamese language with all the differences between the 3 main vietnamese dialects and should avoid to "name" a specific dialect as standard.
And do not forget: South vietnamese dialect is the most spoken vietnamese dialect in Vietnam and also in the world. This a fact. Have a nice day. Beautiful Bavaria (talk) 20:47, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Beautiful Bavaria,
- I don't recall editing any page related to Vietnamese recently. In addition, the "I'm under the impression..." part seems highly subjective, which is against Wikipedia's style and I think it's unlikely that I wrote that. As far as I know, currently there is no Vietnamese dialect that is considered "standard" and I'm well aware that southern dialect is much more popular choice for learners (unless they are going to settle in the north, of course), so it is unlikely that that is my view either.
- I have just searched my edits related to Vietnamese language, and I believe you are referring to this talk page: Talk:Vietnamese_language#multiple_analyses_of_vowels. As far as I am aware, this is written by another user, but it was because I did a poor job at formatting my reply that it looks like I wrote that message. I'm editing that talk page to make the reply clearer.
