A well-written piece, but I feel it fails WP:POLITICIAN. Monaghan is just a councillor. He was a candidate for the European Parliament, but his rank on the party list was so low that he had no chance of getting a seat (he was placed 4th, and only the top-ranked person gained a seat), and though he's a British parliamentary candidate previous election results suggests his party has no chance of getting anywhere near enough votes for him to win. As the guideline noted says, "Just being an elected local official, or an unelected candidate for political office, does not guarantee notability". Neither does Monaghan meet the provisions of Wikipedia:NOTABILITY, since he hasn't "received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". With all this considered, I believe the article should be deleted. HonouraryMix (talk) 16:51, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Redirect to Morley and Outwood (UK Parliament constituency)#Election results as searchers may look for him in the context of his 2010 election candidacy. Fails WP:POLITICIAN and I see only one secondary source (and that doesn't directly cover the subject). --Mkativerata (talk) 18:46, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Redirect as is happening with other PPC's that fail WP:POLITICIAN they can come back to life if they win. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wintonian (talk • contribs) 22:47, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Redirect happy for this to be merged into the Morley and Outwood page, I agree that notability is there to some small extent but it is not huge unlikely that he will come close in this seat Notjamesbond (talk) 09:59, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Redirect for now; Delete after election if unsuccessful. It looks as if this new seat will be a safe Labour seat, so that success is unlikely. Peterkingiron (talk) 18:30, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
