What I liked

Very detailed training module with good links to videos and tutorials that give a better explanation or allow the user to practice. I like the idea of 5 pillars because it is easy to remember and helps users to better understand what wikipedia is about and what it is not about and how to operate within wikipedia.

What I didn't like

The videos didn't play until I opened them in youtube, the tutorial was a little frustrating if you accidentally closed it.

What was missing

I think a better introduction to the coding structure that is used in writing wikipedia articles would be helpful.

What was unnecessary

N/A

If you tried the interactive editing tutorial, what did you think of it?

It was easy to accidentally close the tutorial and I couldn't figure out how to make it re-launch without going back through the training and then starting the tutorial over. I liked that you could keep trying again until you got it right.

What I didn't like

... There wasn't anything that I didn't like.

What was missing

... I would have liked to practice using the sandbox to create a new page vs edit an existing page and how to link it to the original so that other contributors can follow what is going on. I found that portion unclear. However, once I get going with it on my own, I'm sure I will be able to figure it out.

What I liked

...Easy to follow and no unnecessary information was in each of the sections. The videos that were linked were also helpful especially for a visual of what to do.

What I didn't like

...That when explaining in the videos it sounded very robotic. Also there could be more visuals such as pictures

What was missing

What was unnecessary

...

If you tried the interactive editing tutorial, what did you think of it?

...It was helpful to try out what was being taught right then and there instead of reading about it and trying it out later only to find out you really don't know how to do it. It was also very easy to follow because the instructions that would pop up would be close to where the editing was taking place.

What I liked

The interactive training was incredibly helpful to learn how to make basic edits to Wikipedia.

What I didn't like

When you click on a link, it should automatically take you to a new tab so as not to lose your spot in the training.

What was missing

Is there a way to undo an edit if you make a mistake?

What was unnecessary

Some of the videos explained exactly what was said in the previous text.

If you tried the interactive editing tutorial, what did you think of it?

It was very helpful and found it a good aid to the reading. --Sej942 (talk) 03:24, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What I liked

... Everything demonstrated was clear.

What I didn't like

... Everything was fine, except the forward and backward bottom is sometimes not working well.

What was missing

... If there will be more pictures and examples that will be nice.

What was unnecessary

... I think the introduction part was unnecessary, since that everything in it was on the main menu.

If you tried the interactive editing tutorial, what did you think of it?

What was missing

Better guidelines on how to actually edit and contribute to Wikipedia via Sandbox ...

What I liked

…I liked that it told me what to do and not to do. The information was very informative.

What I didn't like

…It was a lot of information to process, but it wasn't bad.

What was missing

…I don't think its missing anything.

What was unnecessary

…I thought plagiarism was unnecessary, but then again its always good to remind people because they still might end up plagiarizing.

If you tried the interactive editing tutorial, what did you think of it?

…i thought it was good thing to have, because sometimes someone seeing what we have to do it better then just reading it.

What I liked

Thorough background of how to avoid plagiarism as this can often times be somewhat of a grey area.

What I didn't like

That I'm in the library and couldn't watch the videos.

What was missing

Split page with a sandbox as well as written instructions next to it.

What was unnecessary

Nothing.

If you tried the interactive editing tutorial, what did you think of it?

It was helpful but I kept having to scroll up and down the page chasing the help box.

What I didn't like

What I liked
I liked the inclusion of the videos to further expand on topics that may be confusing for a new Wikipedia user (for example the references videos and the picture embedding video).

...

What I didn't like
The interactive training portion was a great idea; however, I didn't like that if I stopped part way through training, I would have to restart or there would be multiple versions of the same markup in my sandbox. It got a bit confusing and discouraging but eventually worked out OK. I would suggest a warning to people who may not be able to complete the training in one sitting.

...

What was missing
My next step is to create a user talk page. I'm still a little unsure how to go about doing this so I think a little more detail on this topic would be a good addition to the training. Although resources for creating talk pages were included I think it should have more focus in the training.

...

What was unnecessary
The firework sounds after I finished one of the interactive trainings. I couldn't stop it after I moved on to the next page and kept doing the training with it playing in the background...but it definitely set the mood.

...

If you tried the interactive editing tutorial, what did you think of it?

I mentioned this previously but once again, I liked the training I just didn't like that if I would stop halfway through and return to it I'd have to start from the beginning and have multiple copies of the same text to reformat. It got a bit confusing. ...

What I didn't like

What was unnecessary

... Some of the video links we're not necessary because the information was typed as well.

If you tried the interactive editing tutorial, what did you think of it?

... It was not easy to go back and fourth between training and the tutorial and the directions were vague.

What I liked

What I didn't like

...I didn't like how the videos would not work.

What was missing

What was unnecessary

...I thought it was all pretty necessary, but I guess in a tutorial, the pillars do not need to much focus.

If you tried the interactive editing tutorial, what did you think of it?

...I tried the interactive editing tutorial, but half way it froze. It seemed to be helpful to understand which icon meant what and where to find different buttons.
