The 2006 Windsor municipal election occurred on November 13, 2006, to elect the Mayor of Windsor, Windsor City Council and the Greater Essex County District School Board, Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire catholique Providence and Conseil scolaire Viamonde.
The election was held on the same day as elections in every other municipality in Ontario, as well as the elections in neighbouring towns in Essex County.
Incumbent mayor Mike Hurst announced in September of 2003 that he would not be running for a fifth consecutive term.[1] Incumbent Ward 5 Councillor Eddie Francis and Ward 4 councillor Biagio "Bill" Marra were considered to be the primary contenders for the race.
Francis went on to win the election with 53.45% of the popular vote over Marra's 43.15%. His victory also made him the second-youngest mayor in the city's history, following Daniell Willis Mason[2], who was 26 years old when elected mayor in 1895.
