Shannon K is an American-Indian singer/actress. She started her singing career with Poo Bear with the song “A Long Time” in 2018.[1] She debuted as an actress in the movie The Big Feed in 2020 with Manolo Vergara in COVID time.

Early life and education

Shannon K was born in Mumbai, India.[1] She studied music at the Royal Academy of Music, London,[2] and acted at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in the US.

Career

Singing career

She debuted with Poo Bear with the song “A Long Time” in 2018.[1][2] The music video for the song has received over 41,000,000 views on YouTube.

She collaborated with music producer Kyle Townsend in support of victims of bullying, "Give Me Your Hand". The song was premiered by Billboard magazine. The song was co-written with Annabel, Shannon K's younger sister, in support of the anti-bullying charity Love is Louder, which is part of The Jed Foundation. Shannon stated that she suffered from bullying while growing up so she continues to support this cause. [citation needed] The song won the HMMA Award for best original song. [citation needed]

Shannon has collaborated with Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam, and released the love song "OMT" in November 2018.[2]

Shannon co-wrote the song "It’s Magical" with Sameer. [citation needed]

Shannon is also the Executive Director for the movie Social Mandiya. [citation needed]

Acting career

She debuted in American movies with a cameo in Manolo Vergara’s, The Big Feed. She is currently working on a TV series, Mystical Inheritance of Adina Hassan, with American actor Ryan Kelley and a short film, Rolling. [citation needed]

Shannon K became the recipient of the Wow Outstanding Female Singer Par Excellence Award in 2021. [citation needed]

Personal life

Shannon's father is Kumar Sanu, a Bollywood playback singer;[8] and her mother, Saloni Sanu, is an entrepreneur. [citation needed] Her younger sister, Annabelle Kumar Sanu, is a songwriter and author.[8]
