FOOTBALL MATCH BETWEEN ESSENDON AND FOOTSCRAY, PLAYED ON THE MELBOURNE CRICKET-GROUND, IN AID OF THE DAME NELLIE MELBA APPEAL FOR
LIMBLESS SOLDIERS.
This match was unique in the history of the game. For the first time the premiers of the League and Association met. The League team was beaten. Forty-six thousand
people attended the game, and contributed £2,800 to the appeal.
