Summary

Description
English: Depiction of naked female figure with headdress, surrounded by sun, moon, pentagram, eight-pointed star, skull, and Arabic or pseudo-Arabic inscription.

The Baphometic idol was usually described as "a bearded head with a fierce expression." Von Hammer-Pürgstall (Mysterium Baphometis Revelatum, 1816) associated a series of carved or engraved figures found on a number of 13th century Templar artifacts (such as cups, bowls and coffers) with the Baphometic idol. Note: Von Hammer-Pürgstall has been accused of fakery.
