Summary

Description
English: The Hermann Schlimme House at Wallstraße No. 61-65, corner of Inselstraße (on the left) in Berlin-Mitte. The main building was constructed from 1922 to 1923 to a design by Max Taut and Franz Hoffmann as office building for the General Federation of German Trade Unions. It was one of the first modern buildings which used its frame construction as main design component. From 1930 to 1932, the building was expanded by architect Walter Würzbach along Wallstraße and Märkisches Ufer. In 1933, it was taken over by the National Socialists for their German Labor Front. From 1945 to 1990, it was seat of the Berlin branch of the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB). The building is now used as office and commercial building by several companies. It is also seat of the embassy of the Republic of Kosovo. The building has been designated as historic landmark.
