English: Monotype Bookman (inner lines) compared to samples of the original ATF Bookman at the same cap height. It can be seen that the modern Bookman revival has generally wider characters than the original (which are already quite wide), a somewhat higher x-height and several detail differences. (The metal type Bookman was not always consistent in style between sizes itself: compare the ‘a’ in the metal type samples. The top 'g' also has the mutilated descender common on ATF typefaces, which were often intended for very tight linespacing)
Details: These samples are taken from digitisations of the 1912 and 1923 ATF specimen books on the Internet Archive. The top sample from 1912 is in 72pt type (the largest size in the book, hence the tight display spacing), the bottom from 1923 not marked but looking at the samples in the book I think almost certainly 48pt.
