| Description |
English: This delightful study of two of Sutcliffe's daughters, Kathy and Evelyn Louise (pet name Lulu), was probably taken in the doorway of Ewe Cote Hall, a house on the outskirts of Whitby.
Frank's father, leased Ewe Cote Hall in 1870 and the family lived there for a number of years. Frank and his wife, Eliza, later moved to a cottage in Stakesby which was very near to his mother and family. Sutcliffe's bold use of lighting is very evident in this photograph. A difficult negative from which to print, due to the extreme contrasts between highlight and shadow |
