English: He was born around 1877 in Rwahunga Village, Mpara sub county, Tooro.
His Father Kebisingo Rwinyangabu was a Muliisa by clan and his mother Korwizi Kaisasirwa a Muhinda by clan from Kaaro-Karungi. In early 1890’s Aberi Balya accompanied his father Kebisingo on a military campaign when Kabaleg’s Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom was at war with the British. Kabalega lost the war, was capyured and taken into exile while many of his soldiers and subjects were killed. The she survivors including Kebisingo and his son Balya scattered in disarray. There was distruction of life and property. Bishop Balya and his Father went through Buruliand crossed Lake Kyoga (where they survived a boart accident) to Lango where they stayed for some time before they returned to Tooro.Later he lost his parents and grew up with his brother Bisanga Engumi and his sister Katetegerwe.After many years of haphazard movements, calamitiesillness and loss of cattle, Balya heard a good news that Tooro had a good christianKing. Bishop Balya joined King Daudi Kasagama of Tooro who put him in charge of Kingdom headquarter resources (Egalian).Here he found his cousins Saabu and Murangira who had arrived earlier. |
