Summary

Description Martha "Mamah" Borthwick (June 19, 1869 - August 15, 1914) is primarily noted for her relationship with Frank Lloyd Wright, which ended when she was murdered. This image is from a newspaper article about their relationship scandal. Original caption: Frank Lloyd Wright, the esthetic Oak Park architect, is not a bit worried by the fact that a complaint has been filed by the residents of Spring Green, Wis., against him and his spiritual mate, known a Mamah Bouton Borthwick, the former Mrs. Edwin H. Cheney, with whom he is holding a "spiritual communion" in "Love Castle" in the Wisconsin hills.
