Summary

Description
English: A ningyo (mermaid), aka kairai ("sea lightning") claimed to be caught in "Yomo-no-ura, Hōjō-ga-fuchi, Etchū Province" according to this flier.[1] The correct reading however is "Yokata-ura"[2] in what is now Toyama Bay. Caption title given by Waseda University Theatre Museum which owns a copy.[1] A kawaraban type wood-block printed bulletin. Work is discussed by Hayward,[3] and by Castiglioni;[4] witnessing it brings a person "long and happy life".[5]
