English: The Presidential Palace in São Tomé was originally known as Palácio do Governo, as it was built in the 19th century as the headquarters of the Portuguese colonial administration and official residence of the Governor of of São Tomé and Príncipe. After the country’s independence in 1975, the building was renamed as Presidential Palace and has served as the official residence of the President of the Republic.
