C'est un comestible honorable, si l'on n'est pas rebuté par la flaccidité de sa chair. Contrairement aux cèpes ou au girolles, il ne se suffit pas vraiment à lui-même simplement poêlé, il bénéficiera largement d'être cuisiné de manière plus élaborée, en mélange ou en accompagnement.
