Description
English: In the naval battle near Lissa in the Adriatic Sea in 1866, won by the Austrian War Fleet, the Austrian ship "Erzherzog Ferdinand Max" rammed the Italian flagship "Re d'Italia", which sank immediately. A painting by Gustav Kappler shows this historic moment. Reproduction in the "Österreichs Hort" ("Austria's Stronghold") jubilee publication of 1908 on the occasion of Emperor Franz Josef I. reigning 60 years.
