Summary

Description Postcard of a Southern Pacific forward cab locomotive en:Southern Pacific class AM-2 with the passenger train Overland Limited at Reno, Nevada. This is locomotive #4202. This type of locomotive was built and delivered to the railroad in 1911 as an en:Southern Pacific class MM-2. Later modified to have a 4 wheel truck after 1914, and modified to be a simple articulated locomotive during the 1920's; reclassified as AM-2.
Date Not mailed. This type of locomotive went on the road in 1914. This is likely circa late 1910's or later. However, not past 1938, as all AM-2 class locomotives were renumbered under the 3900 series. By 1948, all locomotives of this type were out of service on Southern Pacific.
