I made this myself using w:Inkscape. This is pretty much the SVG I used to make Image:Interstate-469.png. As far as I know, this is fully compliant with SHS 2004. You need the Roadgeek Fonts 2005 archive copy at the Wayback Machine to do anything useful with this. The PNG version rendered by MediaWiki isn't bad, but doesn't use the right fonts. See the 469 one for what it looks like with the right fonts, or get the fonts yourself and open the SVG using your SVG-compliant webbrowser (it works OK in firefox) or whatever.

I strongly advise you to not bother with replacing every 3di sign on wikipedia or something like that. Why?

1. I'm not sure these are perfect yet. In fact, I think I wasn't careful enough with some parts.
2. Most of the signs on Wikipedia are fine; Kamlung states that his are 1988 MUTCD compliant.
3. In many cases, 3di's with state names would be nicer; I have those in the works.
4. Once I make all these 3di and 2di SVGs, I'll probably have a bot do all that work.

So, in short, enjoy it, improve it, etc, but don't bother replacing all of the current ones.

If anyone knows how the fonts can be made to work properly on mediawiki's rendering of these or something like that, please do that and unpload your changed version. Thanks!

This template has been updated to be based on Image:Interstate blank wide.svg, which is what all of the state-neutral SVG 3di Interstate shields out there are based on. I still recommend that you use this, rather than SPUI's, for any reason that you may want to make a new shield, since this ensures that you get the placement and size of the text right. I reverted it to Scott's first version, since SPUI made MediaWiki-friendly shields, this has only value as a template type thing, which means you need the text. --Chris 21:54, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
