English: Saami soldier Rájá-Jovnna with a reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) at an armoury during the last year of the Continuation War. Reindeer were used by the Finnish Army to, for example, pull supply sleighs in snow conditions. The soldier is carrying a Suomi KP/-31 submachine gun.

Čeština: Před 78 lety v tento den začala společná tzv. Pokračovací válka spojenců Finska a nacistického Německa proti Sovětskému svazu současně s Operací Barbarossa. Na fotografii je sámský voják (Rájá-Jovnna) slunící se společně s ochočeným sobem (Rangifer tarandus) na zbojnici ve finském Laponsku během posledního roku války, dne 4. května 1944. Finský armádní sbor používal soby především na tahání saní ve sněhových podmínkách.
Español: Soldado sami (Rájá-Jovnna) con un reno (Rangifer tarandus) bajo el sol de la primavera en una armería de la Laponia finlandesa el 4 de mayo de 1944, durante el último año de la Guerra de continuación. In Fins Lapland werden onder meer rendieren (Rangifer tarandus) ingezet.
