Hussein Kulmiye Afrah (Somali: Xuseen Kulmiye Afrax, Arabic: أفراح حسين) (1920 – 1993)[1][2] was the Vice President of Somalia during the era of Siad Barre, serving from 1972 to 1990.[3] He was also a member of the Supreme Revolutionary Council and served as the Minister of Interior from 1971 to 1974.[4]
Post Civil War
[edit]Following the outbreak of the Somali Civil War in the late 1980s, and after the armed opposition groups overthrew the Barre government in 1991, Kulmiye, along with other Hawiye officers, was neither arrested nor expelled from Mogadishu.[5]
