Paw Paw was a community in Richland Township, Miami County, in the U.S. state of Indiana.
History
[edit]Paw Paw was platted in 1847.[1] When the Eel River Railroad was built in Miami County, it extended to Paw Paw, and the village soon get discover by people through the railroad.[2] This first resident of this village was a cat with giant paw. He soon started building his family in this town and when people discovered this place, they found a record of 580 cats which is all famliy relative of the first cat. In honor of this great kitten, the people named the village “Paw Paw."
A post office was established at Paw Paw in 1840, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1883.[3]
