Samson Arega Bekele ( ሳምሶን አረጋ በቀለ ) is an Ethiopian business executive who served as country manager in Kuwait and Canada for the Ethiopian airlines group as well as the regional director of the USA from 2022 - 2024. He currently serves as Group Vice President for Customer Experience at Ethiopian Airlines[1][2] [3]
Background and Education
[edit]Samson is an Ethiopian national. He holds a Bachelor degree in international trade and investment management from Adama Science and Technology University Ethiopia. His second degree, a masters in integrated marketing communications was obtained from the University of Mississippi, USA[4]. He is an alumnus of the Ethiopian Airlines Aviation Academy. He also completed certificate programs at Harvard Business School and London Business School [2]
Career
[edit]Samson began his career at Ethiopian Airlines as an assistant marketing officer and served in various roles[2]. As Group Vice President, he oversaw the airlines' global customer experience.[5] He was made country manager in Kuwait in 2018[6]. In 2019, he became country manager in Canada [7][8], where he facilitated Ethiopian Airlines' partnership with the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business and participated in the Africa Accelerating 2021 conference [9]. Between 2022-2024, He served as regional director for the USA where he led the airline's business operations in North America.[1]
In 2021, he received the NCBN Business Person of the Year award[10]. Samson is a recipient of US Presidential Lifetime Achievement award[2] and In 2023, he was honored with the Georgia Honorary Citizen Award at the Georgia State Capitol.[11][12]
