'[http://www.timothyteam.co.za Timothy Ministry Training (TMT)] is a one-year intensive discipleship training programme focused on training men and women of God for life and ministry. As a ministry of [http://www.joshgen.org.za Joshua Generation Church (JoshGen)], we firmly believe in the role of the local church and the value of being part of a church family. Because of this our training takes place within the context of the local church, with a focus placed on both theoretical learning and practical application through direct experience. == Our Inheritance == We are situated in the lovely town of Wellington in the Cape Province, South Africa. And this town has an amazing story and a rich history. Over one hundred years ago, God did a significant work here through a man call Andrew Murray. Andrew Murray had a vision to train and equip missionaries from Wellington to take the gospel to the rest of Africa and the ends of the earth and established training and mission bases in the town to achieve this. At one time most of the activity in Wellington was centered on his vision not only for the town but also for the salvation of the world. In light of this we believe that there remains a mandate over this town to be a place of training, a town that will continue to train and send out well-equipped people into Africa and the rest of the world and see the nations impacted with the Gospel. We believe that God has given us a similar mandate, and it is one of our desires to be an avenue to see this dream for Wellington live on. == Our History == The Timothy Leadership Project (TLP) was started in 2001 as a ministry of First Love Church with the aim to, like Paul, train young Timothy’s through and for the church. In 2004 TLP entered a partnership with the South African Theological Seminary (SATS) and began using their Bachelors in Theology programme as part of the theoretical training which TLP provided in their three year programme. In the same year TMT introduced a one-year programme known as ONE. As TLP evolved and the focus of the training became wider than leadership training, the name was changed to Timothy Ministry Team (TMT). In 2012 First Love Church joined Joshua Generation Church (JoshGen). This resulted in TMT being brought into a larger church context and has enabled TMT to be a tool and resource for JoshGen and the churches that are partners within the movement of [http://www.four12global.com/ Four12]. One of our strengths over the year has been our ability to change and adapt according to the leading of God, which has only taken us from strength to strength. We are excited that in 2015 we will be doing this again! We will merge our former three-year and ONE programme into a one-year intensive discipleship programme. We hope that through this we will be better able to equip students to minister in the context of the local church and ensure that they stay relevant to impact the world. Students who have completed their first year with us will also be able to apply for our new Internship programme. As we are ready to enter a new phase of our journey we are aware that we have not yet “arrived”. However, we know that as long as we keep the same vision and prayer in front of us that Jesus had: “Father let Your Kingdom come, let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”, we will be safe. It is the vision to see His will be done and His Kingdom come that will continue to drive us into the future! ==Curriculum== === Systematic Theology or Systematic Studies === Using a topical approach, this subject will aid students to develop a whole-Bible theology on the major doctrines of the Christian Faith. === Practical Ministry / Practical Equipping === This course equips students with the necessary practical skills to be a well-rounded and effective minister, communicator and leader. === Christian Life and Spiritual Growth === The aim of this course is to equip students with the necessary foundations and tools for a grounded spiritual life. === Biblical Studies === To understand the context in which each book in the Bible is written and its individual purpose, this subject provides the student with an overview for both the Old and New Testament. Specific Bible books are selected for more in-depth study. === Book Discussions === Each year a different selection of books are chosen to focus on. Each book will have a different emphasis and will be discussed on a weekly basis. == Practical Training and Living in Local Church Community == Practical training will give the students the opportunity to put into practice what they have been taught. This will not only equip the student, but also serve as a catalyst for releasing them into active ministry. By exposing the student to different disciplines of Christian ministry, we create a reasonable perception of ministry, therefore aiding the student in the process of clarifying their own call to ministry while spreading the Word of God and ministering to others. Part of this will include a number of visits to, and exposure to local Joshua Generation Church congregational life (as part of ministry times, impartation opportunities and fellowship time). We believe that these visits, exposure to church life in different context and involvement within a local body, will have a big influence on the training and shaping of every student. Practical training will focus on several areas of ministry: === Church Life === By being actively involved in the life of Joshua Generation Church, the students will gain hands-on experience with regard to church leadership and church life. They will also be exposed to different disciplines and healthy New Testament values. Their interaction with a number of the JoshGen congregations during the course of the year will also introduce them to the wider church family, with opportunities to not only be exposed to different contexts but to make new friends and form relationships for life. For more information on Joshua Generation Church please visit our website, www.joshgen.org.za. (LINK) === School Ministry === Students will have the opportunity to be involved in the planning and administration of youth ministries and activities alongside mentors. This can take the form of involvement in school Christian Action meetings, Bible Education classes, hosting camps, youth-weeks/outreaches as well as other Christian activities. === Ministry To The Poor === The students will have opportunity to minister to the poor, bringing physical relief as well as spiritual riches to people in need. This opportunity to serve others and lay down their life for someone else, as Jesus taught, will stir the students’ hearts with compassion and open up another facet to ministry. === Outreaches === Students will have opportunity to participate in three types of outreaches: o Local – Local outreaches will take place once a week into the local community. o National – National outreaches occur twice a year for a period of two to three weeks. o International – We do not have any planned international outreaches, however students are encouraged to participate in at least one of the international outreaches JoshGen and Four12 organise in the course of the year. TMT will not be involved in the arrangements of any international outreaches nor is this included in the programme fees. Any costs allocated to an international outreach will be over and above the TMT programme fees. ==Faculty and Board of Directors== === Faculty === ==== Carel Albertyn (Principal) ==== Carel is our Team Coordinator with a wonderful testimony. It is a picturesque town surrounded by beautiful mountains and vineyards, and a wonderful place to live. TMT is located on a beautiful farm called Provence, a unique Boland farm in the CBD of Wellington with huge gardens, ponds, oak trees and vineyards surrounding the main facilities, a big manor house and guest rooms. We have the following facilities available: • TMT classrooms and offices • Self-catering students accommodation with a kitchen that can be used (single and shared rooms) • Work and study space (with basic computers, Wi-Fi and printing facilities) The feeling at Provence is truly that of a family estate. There are areas where students can work in a peaceful atmosphere and can study, but there is also room for students to be expressive and spend time with one another, hanging out and enjoying each other’s company. ==Statement of Faith== * I am a Christian saved by grace from the eternal wrath of God through faith in Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour, through His death and resurrection, by which I am assured of eternal life (John 3:16-18; Romans 3:23-26). * I believe Jesus Christ is exactly who He claimed to be (Isaiah 53:6; Matthew 26:64; Mark 14:62; Luke 22:70; John 4:25-26;John 6:29; John 8:58; John 11:25-27; John 14:6-7; John 15:5). * I have repented of my sins and have been made a new creation in Christ (1 John 1:9; 2 Corinthians 5:17). * In obedience to Scripture, I agree that baptism in water is a necessary step of obedience to Christ. Through baptism I personally identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, and publicly demonstrate my commitment as a disciple of Jesus (Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21). ==Statement of Doctrine== * We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament in their original writings. * We regard the Scriptures as being final as to authority and infallible as to truth, regarding all facets of church life and discipline. * We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons, namely Father, Son and Holy Spirit. * We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. * We believe that God created man in His own image. Thereafter sin entered the first man through disobedience on man’s part resulting in spiritual death for all mankind. * We believe that Jesus Christ had to die for the sins of mankind so that man could be reconciled back to God. * We believe in the bodily death, burial and resurrection of Christ. * We believe in His ascension into heaven and His future return to earth. * We believe in the initial reception of the Holy Spirit at conversion (Romans 8:9), His internal sealing work thereafter (Ephesians 1:13), followed by continual infillings of His presence from within us (Ephesians 5:18). * We believe in the resurrection of both the just and the unjust. * We believe in the regular practice of the breaking of bread and the taking of wine / grape juice to remind us of the new covenant established through Christ’s death on our behalf. * We believe in the baptism of believers by immersion in water. * We believe in the five-fold ministry gifts of Ephesians 4:11-12. * We believe in using these gifts in the life of the church and to affect the communities we minister in. * We believe in the equality of all persons irrespective of their race, culture or social background. * We believe that marriage is a creational ordinance ordained by God between a man and a woman and that any relationship of a sexual nature outside of marriage, or between people of the same sex is contrary to Scripture and therefore unacceptable to God and His Church. * ==See also== *[[Wellington, Western Cape]] *[[South African Theological Seminary]] ==External links== * [http://www.timothyteam.co.za The Timothy Ministry Team] * [http://www.facebook.com/timothyteam Timothy Ministry Team on Facebook] * [http://www.www.sats.edu.za The South African Theological Seminary] * [http://www.che.ac.za The Council of Higher Education] * [http://www.education.gov.za Department of Education] * [http://www.nadeosa.org.za National Association of Distance Education Organizations in South Africa] {{coord missing|South Africa}} [[Category:Seminaries and theological colleges in South Africa]] [[Category:Seminaries and theological colleges]] [[Category:Bible colleges]] [[Category:Evangelical seminaries and theological colleges]] [[Category:Educational institutions established in 2001]]'

-One of our strengths over the year has been our ability to change and adapt according to the leading of God, which has only taken us from strength to strength. We are excited that in 2015 we will be doing this again! We will merge our former three-year and ONE programme into a one-year intensive discipleship programme. We hope that through this we will be better able to equip students to minister in the context of the local church and ensure that they stay relevant to impact the world. -Students who have completed their first year with us will also be able to apply for our new Internship programme. -As we are ready to enter a new phase of our journey we are aware that we have not yet “arrived”. However, we know that as long as we keep the same vision and prayer in front of us that Jesus had: “Father let Your Kingdom come, let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”, we will be safe. It is the vision to see His will be done and His Kingdom come that will continue to drive us into the future! - ==Curriculum== === Systematic Theology or Systematic Studies === -Using a topical approach, this subject will aid students to develop a whole-Bible theology on the major doctrines of the Christian Faith. === Practical Ministry / Practical Equipping === -This course equips students with the necessary practical skills to be a well-rounded and effective minister, communicator and leader. === Christian Life and Spiritual Growth === -The aim of this course is to equip students with the necessary foundations and tools for a grounded spiritual life. === Biblical Studies === -To understand the context in which each book in the Bible is written and its individual purpose, this subject provides the student with an overview -for both the Old and New Testament. Specific Bible books are selected for more in-depth study. === Book Discussions === -Each year a different selection of books are chosen to focus on. Each book will have a different emphasis and will be discussed on a weekly basis. - == Practical Training and Living in Local Church Community == -Practical training will give the students the opportunity to put into practice what they have been taught. -Part of this will include a number of visits to, and exposure to local Joshua Generation Church congregational life (as part of ministry times, impartation opportunities and fellowship time). They will also be exposed to different disciplines and healthy New Testament values.
