It is part of the [[Flint Cultural Center]] campus. It is currently home to the [[Flint Symphony Orchestra]] and former home to Christmas at Whiting.
The auditorium features a 35.5'-by-55' stage. 1,119 of the auditorium's seats are on the orchestra level -- 150 of them on the orchestra pit lift. Of the remaining seats, 332 are on the mezzanine, and 308 on the lower balcony, 156 the middle balcony and 128 on the right balcony.
The Whiting is home to the Flint Symphony Orchestra as well as the Flint Festival Chorus.
The Whiting is also used for [[Broadway theatre|Broadway]]-style touring shows, [[concerts]] and other events including the graduation ceremonies of [[Flint Central High School]] and [[Lakeville Community Schools]].
In 2005, Whiting Auditorium officially changed its name to '''The Whiting'''.
