The older name of the city was "Chaand si". City is currently famous for the business of Mint oil. Mint plant ( Botanical Name - Mentha piperata ) is cultivated on a very large scale here and after distellation exported to varios part of the world. The city is also famous for "Pure Ghee" and Traditional Ganesh chaurthi utsava celebrated here similar to Maharastra. The city is also rising in terms of educational achievements. Every year several students achieve good ranks in various competitive exams.
