The name of this town is derived from word Kotli Aunchi (high), the old town in K L East, which later become Kotli Loharan. Many people from this town have migrated to [[Commonwealth of Nations|Commonwealth countries]], the [[Middle East]] and the [[UK]]. Most of the original population of this town have moved to the big cities in [[Pakistan and overseas]], especially in [[Kenya]] and [[UK]]. Majority of current population is new migrants from [[Jammu and Kashmir (1948 Kashmir War)]] and some old population. == History == Supposedly, the town was built or just upgraded, by the British somewhere in the mid 19th Century as a weapons and artillery manufacturing town; the principle bladed weapon maker being J D Pensioner & Sons whose name and location in Kotli Loharan E often appears on Nepalese Gurkha kukri and swords <ref>https://www.antique-swords.eu/S28-British-East-India-Company-1821-pattern-Cavalry-Troopers.html</ref>. The town still has a somewhat mysterious past in its lack of information about itself. Not only that, most of the original families and residents of the town have moved away to bigger cities in Pakistan, the United states, and the United Kingdom.A theory exists among the Awan clan of the town that kotli was built by one Mehmand Yar Awan around 1550 AD when he was allotted this land by Sher Shah Soori when he visited Sialkot in 1550....Mehmand Yar Awan presented him very specially high grade steel swords. Soori was so impressed that he ordered to give the land to Mehmand Yaar Awan where he was living with his mother and it was called Bhuluwal..Remember that Mehmand Yaar Awan was a high class metallurgical expert. Awans to the date claim that Kotli was built by Mehmand Yar Awan whose grave is situated at Rara opp the floor mill of one Abdul Aziz Mughal. Najorty of the Mughals arrived In Kotli in the mutiny of 1857 when they were being slaughtered by Brithish and had to run to Kashmir to save there lives. Kotli is only 17 Miles from Indian held Kashmir. Once his Cattle strayed to another town and the people accused Mehmand Yar for not taking care of his cattle...they also said that he was reckless and can do nothing....Mehmand Yar raged promised himself that one day I will be the owner of this land dont worry. He became a blacksmith and made a new high quality of steel and then when Sher Shah Soori came to Sialkot in 1550 he went to his court and presented him these beautiful swords. Impressed by the high quality of swords Sher Shah Soori asked Mehmand where did he lived....Mehmand told him and Sher Shah allotted all the land around Bhullu waal to Mehmand Yar Awan. When Mehmand returned to his town he addressed to his clan that I have been allotted this land by Sher Shah so you come with me and make homes which is now called Kotli Loharan. Kotli Loharan is right in the middle of “ Kharoota Sayedaan & Kotli Loharan West (Landi Kotli). Koti Loharan is cold during winters and hot and humid during summers. May and June are the hottest months. The temperature during winter may drop to 0°C. The land is, generally, plain and fertile. There are two Govt. middle schools separate for boys and girls, Govt Intermediate college for girls and Govt high school for boys. In addition there are many Montessori and English medium schools and two girls college in private sector. == Hospitals == There was Rural Health Center (RHC) level hospital situated between Kotli Loharan East and West for easy approach. Since 2015 it has been upgraded to Tehsil head quarters (THQ) hospital with new building and more facilities according to THQ level. == Transport == Local bus services for Kotli Loharan operate from Sialkot main bus station towards [[Marala Headworks]]. Kotli Loharan is in the middle of this bus route. == Airport == [[Sialkot International Airport]] is just 10-15 kilometres from Kotli Loharan East. Sialkot International Airport is the first ever private sector airport of Pakistan managed by SIAL. It is noted for having the longest runway in Pakistan, is located near Sambrial. Direct flights are available from Sialkot International Airport to Karachi, Faisalabad and Kuwait. PIA would start non-stop flight between Sialkot to Manchester and Dubai as well as Hajj flights from Sialkot International Airport in 2008. Emirates is also expected to start its flights in mid 2008 to Dubai. Airblue will operate domestically from Islamabad, Multan and Karachi in mid 2008. There is also a small Sialkot Cantonment Airport in Sialkot Cantt in use by the aviation wing of the Pakistan Army.
