The Guttmacher Institute continually updates its analysis of state and national laws and policies about contraception and abortion. Other funding does come from international organizations such as the [[World Health Organization]] and the [[World Bank]].<ref name=":1" />Over the last 25 years, the [[MacArthur Foundation]] along with Planned Parenthood’s contribution of well over $2 million, has provided funding so that the Guttmacher Institute can conduct studies internationally on the abortion rates and reproductive health of women.

== Activities ==
The Guttmacher Institute continually updates its analysis of state and national laws and policies about contraception and abortion<ins>, <u>yet the institute</u> won’t conduct further research on the detrimental emotional and psychological symptoms and behavioral changes nor substantiate any post-abortion distress claims</ins>. <ins>The institute maintains that these claims are false and are manipulated by agenda-driven groups, though there are millions of women who make these claims. The fact remains that abortion clinics offer no counseling or emotional support for those who’ve undergone an abortion, which is in fact the intentional killing of an innocent human being. In response to the science of embryology that confirmed in many leading embryology books the proven fact that from the earliest stages of development the unborn are distinct, living, and whole human beings and that a zygote is the beginning of a new human being, Alan Guttmacher, perplexed that anyone would question this scientifically proven fact, wrote “This all seems so simple and evident that it is difficult to picture a time when it wasn’t part of the common knowledge,” in his book <nowiki>''</nowiki>Life in the Making.<nowiki>''</nowiki> Yet Planned Parenthood, where Guttmacher served as president, tells women that there isn’t a human being inside their bodies, it is not human yet, and is simply a clump of cells or a bunch of tissues - very similar to nail clippings or hair.</ins> The Institute keeps a record of the restrictions that different states have put in place for reproductive health. The organization also keeps data about how teens are affected by pregnancy and the number of teens who use contraception.<ref name=":1" /> Internationally, the Guttmacher Institute uses methodologies to give an approximation of abortions in places where the data is not as accessible or the abortions happen outside of the health care setting. The Guttmacher Institute has done no substantial studies on the reproductive or mental health effects on women post-abortion. This leaves millions of women vulnerable to a host of unhealthy, negative post-abortive emotional and psychological symptoms and behavioral changes. Policy making and program reform can not be conducted effectively by a research institute that refuses to acknowledge this clearly evident and proven post-abortive distress. <ref name=":1" />
In 2013, it was awarded a Population Center grant by the US [[National Institutes of Health]] in support of the Guttmacher Center for Population Research Innovation and Dissemination.<ref name=":1" /> The Guttmacher Institute has received [[Charity Navigator]]’s highest 4-star rating annually since 2010.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=3226#.V0N1h-IrJD8|title=Charity Navigator - Rating for Guttmacher Institute|website=Charity Navigator|access-date=2016-05-23}}</ref> In 2011 and 2013, the Institute was named the number one organization in the field of reproductive health by Philanthropedia.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.myphilanthropedia.org/top-nonprofits/national/reproductive-health-rights-justice/2010/guttmacher-institute|title=Guttmacher Institute|website=Philanthropedia|access-date=2016-05-23}}</ref>
== Funding ==
The Institute was first started in 1968 as part of [[Planned Parenthood]], with its funding being solely from Planned Parenthood.<ref name=":0" />Once the Guttmacher Institute was no longer connected to Planned Parenthood in 2007, the organization only received less than 1% of its funding from Planned Parenthood in 2010<ref name=":0" />. == Bias ==
To claim that the Guttmacher Institute isn’t affiliated with a political party is false. Although their mission supports reproductive health, which also includes abortion, the organization c<ins>laims to be</ins> nonpartisan. The data released by the Guttmacher institute is<ins> conducted by the former president of Planned Parenthood. This fact alone adequately challenges that their research and data can be considered as</ins> respected,<ins> or</ins> considered accurate<ins>. Even though they now claim to be a “nonpartisan research group” that is entirely separate of Planned Parenthood</ins>,<ins> tax filings in years past have proven otherwise year after year. Tax filings show well over $2 million dollars have been paid directly from Planned Parenthood to Guttmacher</ins> and<ins> were listed as an “Independent Affiliated Organization”. So the truth is supported by the fact that there are tangible tax documents that have been filed and confirm the two are indeed members of the same body, therefore Guttmacher is NOT a “nonpartisan research group”. Instead it’s a group that was started by Planned Parenthood, funded by Planned Parenthood, and more specifically started by the former President of Planned Parenthood, Alan Guttmacher. To call the Guttmacher Institute a “nonpartisan research group” is completely false. The proof that Guttmacher’s data is clearly biased is proven by many facts including tax records filed in the past. This biased data is unfortunately</ins> used in media<ins> outlets and portrayed as absolute truth from evidence-based research</ins> and by supporters of different political ideologies. <ref>{{Cite news|url=https://www.factcheck.org/2010/04/factcheck-mailbag-week-of-april-6-april-12/|title=FactCheck Mailbag, Week of April 6-April 12 - FactCheck.org|date=2010-04-13|work=FactCheck.org|access-date=2018-10-26|language=en-US}}</ref>

1 => 'The Guttmacher Institute continually updates its analysis of state and national laws and policies about contraception and abortion<ins>, <u>yet the institute</u> won’t conduct further research on the detrimental emotional and psychological symptoms and behavioral changes nor substantiate any post-abortion distress claims</ins>. <ref name=":1" /> ',

3 => 'The Guttmacher Institute isn’t affiliated with a political party, and so it is nonpartisan in the strict sense of the word. It is true that the group does work to "ensure that all women are able to exercise their reproductive rights and responsibilities," which puts them among advocates of abortion rights. However, according to Factcheck.org, Guttmacher "provides the most highly respected statistics on the sexual health of women and men. Its figures on abortion are widely cited by the media as well as by groups on both sides of the political aisle." <ref>{{Cite news|url=https://www.factcheck.org/2010/04/factcheck-mailbag-week-of-april-6-april-12/|title=FactCheck Mailbag, Week of April 6-April 12 - FactCheck.org|date=2010-04-13|work=FactCheck.org|access-date=2018-10-26|language=en-US}}</ref>'
