It was released by Capitol Records, Motown, and Quality Control on June 11, 2021. The album features guest appearances from Drake, Cardi B, Polo G, Future, Justin Bieber, late rappers Juice Wrld and Pop Smoke, and Never Broke Again. It is the follow-up to their 2018 album Culture II and serves as the conclusion to their Culture trilogy. ==Background== In October 2018, Quavo stated in an interview with the Associated Press that following his own recently released solo album Quavo Huncho, first Takeoff and then Offset would release solo efforts. When questioned on when new Migos music would arrive, he replied that Culture III would arrive "at the top of 2019", along with suggesting that a collaborative project between Migos and Canadian rapper Drake would be released after their touring together. On March 25, 2019, Takeoff stated that the album was on the way. On December 12, 2019, Offset revealed the album would be the last chapter in the Culture trilogy and that it included a song with late American rapper Juice Wrld titled "What's Brackin", only four days after Juice Wrld passed away from a drug overdose. The album was delayed and rescheduled for release in early 2020. However, the album was pushed back again, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Quavo spoke to Billboard in March 2020, announcing the trio's decision to hold off on releasing Culture III, explaining that it was largely due to their inability to properly roll out the album once social distancing rules went into effect in most states in the United States of America. ==Background and recording== The album was announced in October 2018 by Quavo. Recording began sometime in 2019. Sometime in 2019, the track "Antisocial" with the late rapper Juice WRLD surfaced online originally made by Juice WRLD featuring Takeoff, and Lil Skies, however, in the final cut of the song, Lil Skies was replaced by Quavo. In January 2020, Offset hinted at Culture III being the final chapter of the Culture series. The same month, Never Broke Again shared a snippet of the song "Need It" on his Twitter account showing him and Offset recording their verses of the song. On February 29, Cardi B shared a snippet of the song "Jane" on her Instagram story and was later briefly performed by Migos during their setlist at the iHeart Radio Festival 2020. On March 1, Offset released a snippet of the song "Light It Up", with the late rapper Pop Smoke, which later surfaced on June 29 as "Richard Millie", although the song's title and existence was confirmed by the late rapper's manager Steven Victor during Complex interview on Pop Smoke's posthumous album Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon with Steven later hinting that the song might appear on Migos' next project, which it did. On March 27, Migos shared a snippet of the song "Straightenin". On October 4, Offset teased the song "Modern Day". On March 23, 2021, Quavo and and Offset both shared a snippet of the song "Why Not" during a video shoot for the song. On May 24, Takeoff shared a snippet of his verse of the song. ==Release and promotion== The album was originally scheduled for a 2019 release date, however, the release was missed and rescheduled to 2020 but was also ultimately missed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. ===Singles=== On May 22, 2020, Migos released the album's lead single, "Need It", featuring American rapper Never Broke Again.
