On March 1, 2016, Slaton narrowly lost to the incumbent in the Republican primary. The intern was under the age of 21. After the initial incident, it was alleged that Slaton had shown the intern fake emails on the incident, as something as a loyalty test, and he is believed to have told her not to speak with anyone on the matter. On the date of the complaint surfacing, Slaton retained Rockwall-based criminal defense layer Patrick Short on April 10. Slaton was notably absent from the State budgetary debates. He is for banning abortion, drag shows where minors are present, and proposes bills that limit freedom to certain people.
