'Lakshmi Ramakrishnan is a south Indian actress who dons supporting roles in Tamil movies. She made her debut in Nadodigal.She has acted as mother for actors Aarya, Sasikumar,Karthik Kumar. She stands out in her role in Poi Solla Porom as Karthik’s mother. It is hard not to applaud this beautiful and powerful performer. Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, a former Mrs. Coimbatore, is not only a beautiful actress but has a potential to become a successful director and that is what her ambition is. After all, Lakshmi Ramakrishnan had been making short films even before she thought of acting! After marriage, she accompanied her husband who worked in Saudi. She had plenty of time, which she utilized very well in social activities and conducting workshops for women and children of Indian origin. When the couple returned to India, they built a beautiful house (which proved a turning point later in Lakshmi’s life) and led a happy life. With more free time at her disposal, Lakshmi started to pay attention to her creative side. Slowly, she began making short films. So far, she has directed 6 short films. When renowned Malayalam filmmaker Lokidas was looking for a house in Coimbatore for filming Chakkaramuthu, his attention fell on Lakshmi’s home. Lakshmi's pleasing personality and knowledge in filmmaking encouraged him to offer her a role in the film, which later became a part of her identity in Kerala; till this date, she is known by the name of the character she did in that film – Devayani teacher. Myriad film offers followed, but Lakshmi took care that she accepted only those which had potential to showcase her acting skills. She had already become a notable personality when Kollywood beckoned. She played Sneha’s mother in Pirivom Santhippom and narrowly missed being Vijay’s onscreen mother in Azhagiya Tamizhmagan due to her commitments in Malayalam films. Now, after rocking in the hilarious Poi Solla Porom, she is doing a negative role (not wanting to be a typecast) in Eeram, which is produced by S. Pictures. This brilliant performer says that though she is enjoying her share in Kollywood as an actor, her real interest is in directing films, which she will accomplish very soon. Even after the completion of her work in films she signed, she can be seen in the studios monitoring and helping in post-production work.'
