'''Penrith Anglican College''' is a co-educational day Pre-K to 12 school committed to academic excellence and growth in Christian values. The Sydney Anglican Schools Corporation established PAC in 1998. In that year it had 132 students ranging from Kindergarten to Year 7, with a teaching staff of eight and a total staff of twelve. In 2014, the school has over 1,300 students across Pre-K to 12.
== Mark Lewis - Headmaster ==
Mark joined PAC as Headmaster in 2015 after serving as Principal of Swan Christian College, Perth, WA for the past 8 years. Swan Christian College has 1,550 students and a staff of over 180. Prior to Swan Christian College, Mr Lewis was the Principal of Sutherland Shire Christian School.
Mark’s personal goal is to make schools places where students can understand that they are uniquely created individuals, able to serve in the wider community context and be critical thinkers not just for tomorrow’s society, rather forging their place today.
== Curriculum ==
PAC offers a Christian perspective to all teaching programs within the context of the New South Wales Board of Studies curricula. We provide appropriate educational programs in all key-learning areas from Pre – Kindergarten to Year 12. Our students are encouraged to achieve their best; to demonstrate initiative; to become self disciplined and to show sensitivity to the needs of others.
PAC occupies 18 hectares on one of the highest hills in Penrith. It has magnificent views across the city to the Blue Mountains. The building design places special emphasis upon care of the environment. Many of the classrooms are of earth shelter construction, similar to Parliament House in Canberra. All classrooms are air-conditioned.
Students in Years 11 and 12 undertake either the International Baccalaureate Diploma program or the Higher School Certificate program.
PAC places particular emphasis on the acquisition of literacy and numeracy skills by all students. Students are taught in ability-based groups for literacy and numeracy work from Kindergarten to Year 12.
PAC endeavours to foster in all students an appreciation of the creative arts. Consequently Music and Visual Arts are taught to all students from Kindergarten to Year 8. All students in Years 3 – 6 learn a musical instrument as part of the Music program offered.
Students may apply for Academic and Music Scholarships for entry to PAC in Years 7 and 11.
We are a member of the N.A.S.S.A (New Anglican Schools’ Sporting Association) and the P.S.S.A (Primary Schools’ Sporting Association). Students are given the opportunity to represent PAC in a number of team sports, swimming, athletics and cross-country. As well, each student from Kindergarten to Year 10 participates in regular physical education lessons.
== Facilities ==
Spacious classrooms are grouped around large common “learning centres”, where students can access our “cutting edge” computer network and other library resources. There are discrete libraries within the learning centres: each has been set up to cater for specific age groups from Kindergarten to Year 12. This allows for flexible learning approaches to be used to prepare students in this new millennium.
PAC has a gymnasium, a 550-seat theatre, an oval, three basketball courts, four cricket nets, play equipment and generous landscaping to enhance our buildings and beautiful location.
Our Preparatory (K-2) students have their own designated playground “The Farm”, consisting of a shaded seating area, oval and play equipment.
Pre-K students are housed in brand new dedicated classrooms attached to the new administration building with a purpose built playground.
== The Lighthouse Theatre ==
On 19th August 2011, PAC officially opened the new Junior School Performing Arts Centre, (the Lighthouse Theatre). The theatre is a 550-seat performing arts centre with a café and VIP lounge. It features professional industry standard lighting and audio equipment as well as projection facilities for presentations. In its opening year it hosted a number of College and professional productions including the Wizard of Oz, a James Morrison concert, and the album launch concert of the Idea of North’s Extraordinary Tale.
The theatre is also home to Christ Church @ the College which holds services at 9.30am each Sunday.
The Lighthouse Café opened in Term 2, 2012 and serves ethically sourced Ministry Grounds barista coffee to parents, staff and visitors to the College. The café is operated by Christ Church @ the College and is open Monday to Friday from 8.00 till 12.30pm.
== Pastoral Care ==
At PAC we endeavour to model the Christian faith and students are encouraged to adopt Christian values. All students attend weekly Chapel services and are involved in our Divinity program. Pastoral care groups meet weekly in the Senior School.
Students in Years 11 and 12 take part in the Tabitha program (HSC students) or the CAS Program (IB Students). PAC teaches that there are absolutes in life, that there is right and wrong, true and false, and that there are consequences for the decisions that students make.
We require conformity to the highest possible standards of courtesy, public behaviour and uniform. Corporal punishment is not administered at PAC.
=== Chapel ===
All students participate in weekly chapel services. Each class from Kindergarten to Year 12 has the responsibility to organise and present chapel services throughout the year. All members of the College community are encouraged to attend chapel services. Chapels are held each Friday morning.
=== Christian Fellowship ===
Junior and Senior Christian fellowship groups operate at the College. All students are welcome to attend the fellowship groups. The Years 10-12 fellowship group is called “Senior ROCK”. The Years 7-9 fellowship group is called “ROCK” (Receivers of God’s Kingdom) and the Junior fellowship group is called “B.I.G” (Believers in God). Each fellowship group meets weekly, is organised by members of staff and is lead by students. The purpose of these groups is to offer a time of fun, encouragement and learning about the Christian faith, with an emphasis on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
The Senior Fellowship groups also offer a twice-yearly House Party to provide a time of fellowship for a whole weekend, and to enable the group to enjoy activities and campsites as part of God’s creation.
=== Counsellor ===
The College employs a full-time counsellor. Parents may contact the counsellor at any time to seek advice and to address concerns they may have about their child/ren. Students are also invited to contact the counsellor directly if they so wish.
=== John Lambert Award ===
As part of the College’s student Welfare Policy awards are earned by students for achievement, effort and participation in College based activities and for involvement in activities, which include service to others, both inside and outside the College. The Awards are at three levels:
- The Teacher’s Award
- The Headmaster’s Award
