Alexis was born as Alexis Taylor Kraft in St. Louis, Missouri on June 19th, 1996. Growing up, she had limited interest in music, as she preferred sports and taking drama classes throughout her school years. However, she taught herself to play piano, guitar and the drums when she was 13. Alexis also has stated that she began writing songs in her youth and by the age of 16 had written over 250. She performed in many musicals in middle school as well. She attended Eureka High School.
Music Career
In 2009, Alexis's interest in music skyrocketed when she purchased a Macbook. Using the Macbook generated music software Garageband, Alexis began creating raps from her computer to show her friends and family. By 2012, Alexis had created a mixtape entitled "Better Than The Original" featuring covers of other rapper's songs, including many by Drake. However, the only people who heard the mixtape were her family, because she feared releasing the mixtape would cause her to be the subject of scrutiny among her peers. However, she continued recording songs for her own amusement, and also composed over 50 instrumental tracks using the software.
By 2013, Alexis had recorded over 100 songs, but had released none of them. Due to encouragement from her family and friends, Alexis created a SoundCloud account and uploaded some of her songs onto the site. Within a day, Alexis had received numerous messages from rappers around the country asking if she wanted to collaborate with them on songs. By October 2015, Kraft had been featured on multiple rap mixtapes and features.
On January 9th, 2015, Alexis released her debut mixtape "Personal", which included features from Cesa, NewSide, Tripper Getem, Roze and H.$. The mixtape currently has over 5,000 views worldwide on the major mixtape release site Datpiff. The song "Do You Love Me? (feat. NewSide) was played on 103.7 HSN Radio in California several times and was popular after the release of the mixtape. Many of her songs also were subsequently posted on YouTube and Audiomack. On Febraury 20th, 2015, Alexis released another mixtape entitled "Remixes" which featured her own remixes on popular songs, including "Marvins Room Remix", "Ain't Worried About Nothing (feat. French Montana & Miley Cyrus)" and "Believe Me (feat. Drake & Lil Wayne).
On May 2, 2015, "Personal" was released onto iTunes, including 11 out of the 14 original songs.' |
