Brian "Kwasi" Owusu (born November 7, 1945) is a former football player and Olympian. His NFL career lasted less than one game, as he was injured in the only snap he saw on the field.
==Early Years==
Kwasi was born in Ghana in 1945. Due to war, he immigrated at a young age to the United States, where he played high school football and track at Oaks Christian Academy. His great speed made him perfect for football in his home country in Ghana. In the 1972 Olympics, his Ghana team tied for 13th Place, but he was the leading receiver and defensive back on his team, with at least 100 yards receiving in each game. He also scored his team's only touchdown in the Olympics, when his team lost 3-1 to Columbia (Football in the Olympcs at this time only counted touchdowns).
==College Years==
Due to a 15 year commitment for Ghana's military, Kwasi did not play College Football until 1987, where he played at Cal State Fullerton. At Fullerton, he was an effective Defensive Back, earning the team captain title his Sophomore season. Beacause of his age, he enterred the NFL draft after his second season at Fullerton.
==Professional Sports Career==
After an amazing sophomore season, Kwasi enterred the 1989 NFL Draft. At the time, he had the fastest 40 time of 4.09; however, his age was a major turn-off. He was drafted at the last position of the draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He played one preseason snap, where he broke his collar bone and had a concussion. He subsequently retired after only one preseason snap.
==Post-Retirement==
After retirement, he honed his skills into drumming. Currently, he's the drummer for the band "Owusu and Hannibal". In addition, he has two kids playing college football; Brian Owusu (Harvard) and Ernest Owusu (Cal).
