HMS Chatham was a Royal Navy survey brig that accompanied HMS Discovery on George Vancouver's exploration of the west coast of North America in his 1791–1795 expedition. In June 2014, the anchor was raised and will be assessed to see if it is actually the sole remaining relic of Capt. At the Seattle Boat Show on February 3, 2017 Richard Blumenthal related that no markings have been found on the Whidbey Island anchor. Furthermore he maintains that it was not the type of anchor used by the British and may have been too large for HMS Chatham. The anchor is most unlikely to have come from the Chatham or any other vessel associated with Vancouver.
