He represents the [[States and union territories of India|state]] of [[Karnataka]]. He also currently serves as member of the Parliament, Standing Committee on Defence, Consultative Committee on Finance, the Central Advisory Committee for the [[National Cadet Corps (India)|National Cadet Corps]], Co-Chairman of District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee, Bangalore Urban District. He used to be a member of Select committee on Real Estate and Select Committee on GST. He has a controversial past with many allegations about financial misdemeanor. He allegedly usurped this father-in-law's wealth through nefarious methods, and that led to his meteoric rise in the business scene in India. He is also accused of using his media clot to discredit Mr Sashi Tharoor, who is the serving MP from Thiruvananthapuram constituency. This is supposedly done to ensure victory for Mr Rajeev in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, in which he is expected to contest as a BJP candidate from Thiruvananthapuram. He is also accused of fomenting trouble in the sensitive areas of Thiruvananthapuram district, which led to skirmishes between RSS and CPM cadres. He is the founder and chairman of Jupiter Capital, a financial services and investment company.
