The future opera singer showed interest in music from an early age. When a child I. Nazarov successfully participated in a number of festivals and competitions. I.Nazarov began his musical education in People's Artist Agakhan Abdullayev’s class as a khanende, but later took up academic vocal. In 2003, he graduated from the Bulbul Specialized Secondary Music School and went to the U.Hajibeyli Baku Academy of Music, the faculty of solo singing and opera training. Creative activity in the UNS Creative Stage in 2006 was a landmark event in the musician's activity and gave rise to further successes. I.Nazarov created his first role on the stage of this theatre. Kochchante’s 'Notre-Dame de Paris', accompanied by the Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra named after Gara Garayev led by Teymur Goychaev, the People’s Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I. Nazarov performed Quasimoda in French, and on June 17-18, 2010 in Russian at Heydar Aliyev Palace, which brought him the greatest success. I. Nazarov, who became the first performer of Quasimoda, created a bright and colourful image. During these years, the vocalist became the participant of many musical festivals and international competitions, as well as performed solo concert programs. The opera 'Intizar' by Firengiz Alizade, the People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, became an important stage in the vocalist's musical career and determined the future direction of his activities. The image of the Yad adam is one of I. Nazarov’s favourite images. After the successful premiere of the performance, the vocalist was invited as a soloist to the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. The first image that he performed on the stage of this theatre is Nofal in the opera of the genius U. Here, he developed his voice for the performance of countertenor parts, which later became a turning point in his career. At the academy, he studied in the world famous Vincenzo de Vivo’s class. It should be noted that since 2011, I. Nazarov has gone down in the history of Azerbaijani musical culture as the first countertenor. He is the singer of a real male soprano, which is a rarity. Having mastered most of the countertenor's repertoire in a short time, the vocalist began to participate as a countertenor in a number of competitions and festivals. I.Nazarov's debut as a countertenor was in Italy in A.Scarlatti's oratorio ‘Passione secondo Giovanni’ (Testo, Pilatus). In those years, Ilham Nazarov took master classes from the world famous vocal masters of Germany, France, Austria, Czech Republic and other European countries, including F.Fazioli and Philippe Jaroussky. After successful performances at festivals and competitions, I.Nazarov received invitations from a number of theatres to take part in opera performances as a countertenor. The fact that the vocalist performed at the festival, along with the classical program, the folk song 'Sarı gəlin' (Golden-haired bride), caused a resonance in the Italian press, and this performance was described in the press as ‘the voice connecting West and East.’ In his musical career, I.Nazarov successfully combines several genres. He performs samples of folk, jazz and pop music with high professionalism. As an outstanding opera singer, he performed in many opera performances, took part in many prestigious festivals and concerts in Azerbaijan and abroad. The role of Cherubino from Mozart's opera ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ also became a new page in the history of our musical culture. I. Nazarov's wide vocal range allows him to perform roles related to different epochs and genres with high professionalism. The artist is invited as a jury to a number of international competitions and contests. The list of these international competitions and contests includes: the Competition held at the Azerbaijan State Song Theatre named after Rashid Behbudov with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan; and the 3rd competition for performers on national musical instruments, khanendes and vocalists, in honour of the 120th anniversary of Bulbul, the International Singing Competition held in Austria; the Republican Vocal and Pop Singing Competition (2017); the International Baroque Singing Competition held in France (2018); K-Pop International competition held at the Opera Studio at the Baku Academy of Music (2019); the World Harmony international competition (2020); to name just a few.
