The two are deeply in love but encounter opposition from Bharadhi's father Gandhidasan ([[Sivakumar]]), the head of the village. Gandhidasan believes that Deva is not a suitable suitor due to his perceived reputation throughout the village. Although the son of the well-to-do Raasathi ([[Manorama (Tamil actress)|Raasathi]]), it comes to light that Gandhidasan's disapproval stems from his relationship with his brother Rajadurai aka Periyavar ([[Mansoor Ali Khan (actor)|Mansoor Ali Khan]]), who is seemingly apathetic and lackadaisical. The film ends happily with Gandhidasan recognizing that his now son-in-law Deva is actuality a really upstanding citizen in the village.
