Alexander Mahan (born June 30, 1988), better known as YandereDev, is an American video game developer from California, USA. He is best known for developing the game Yandere Simulator.

YandereDev started off working for a video game company that has produced several #1 Mobile games, Kung Fu Factory, but later quit his job to pursue his dream of being an Independent video game developer.

One day, YandereDev posted a concept of a "Yandere Simulator" to the /v/ board of 4Chan. The /v/ board really liked his idea and started pitching concepts for a "Yandere Simulator". Over time this grew into the popular indie game Yandere Simulator.

Career
YandereDev had loved video games from a young age, he knew he wanted to work in the field when he got older in some form. YandereDev graduated Santa Monica College with an Associate Degree of Arts in Animation, Interactive Technology, Video Graphics, and Special Effects. A while after this, YandereDev began working as a Junior Game Designer at Kung Fu Factory; working on iOS titles like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rooftop Run, and Console titles such as Supremacy MMA, Spartacus Legends, and Bellator MMA Onslaught. In late 2013, YandereDev left his job at Kung Fu Factory and began working as an Independent Freelance Programmer. During this time YandereDev made several game prototypes for himself and for commissioners. YandereDev would often think of overly ambitious ideas, make a prototype of those ideas, and not have the assets or funds for assets to continue creating the game. YandereDev decided to take a look at the Unity Assets store to find assets with animations and models to base a game on. YandereDev then stumbled upon a model of an affordably priced anime schoolgirl with different models and animations to make a game out of. YandereDev's friend suggested that he created a delinquent simulator, YandereDev decided to create the most extreme version of the idea and pitch it to the /v/ board of 4Chan. /v/ loved the idea, pitching different ideas, concepts, and more which gave YandereDev a lot of fuel to see this project out, unlike his previous work. This project would become Yandere Simulator.

Yandere Simulator
On April 1st, 2014, YandereDev posted on the /v/ board of 4Chan a concept for a "Yandere Simulator". After the board raised positive attention, Yandere Simulator was born. Yandere Simulator is an upcoming stealth action sadbox-style video game in development. The game centers upon an obsessively lovesick schoolgirl named Ayano Aishi, nicknamed and known mainly as "Yandere-chan", after the Japanese term "yandere", who has taken it upon herself to eliminate anyone she believes is monopolizing her senpai's attention. Over the course of ten weeks, Ayano will eliminate ten different rivals in order to ensure that her crush will not fall in love with the other girls. A free demo was released on August 31, 2020 with revision "A" and "B" releasing not too long after feedback emerged from players.

Originally, YandereDev predicted that it would only take around six months to complete the game's demo, this was because the game's scope was very small. Once more and more YouTubers started playing the game and suggesting features, namely PewDiePie, Markiplier, jacksepticeye, and several more, the scope of the game increased. In the past, tinyBuild and YandereDev entered a partnership to help speed up the development, however, this partnership amicably ended because of creative differences.
