Sockwa, “a shoe so comfortable that feels like a sock.” Sockwa is a type of shoe created around the concept that people like to feel the ground they are walking on. A Sockwa is made of neoprene, faux suede, sandwich mesh, Lycra and fleece. It is stitched together using a flat-lock stitch for strength and comfort. The Sockwa is adjustable due to its construction and design.
Sockwa’s have a variety of uses. Originally started as a beach sock, they are often worn in Beach sporting events (volleyball, soccer, tennis), barefoot running, boating, camping and indoor exercises like Yoga and Pilates.
The original Sockwa was first made by Sockwa, Inc. in 2008.
=== History ===
Sockwa, Inc. was founded in Southern California in 2008. The first generation Sockwa was made for use in Beach Soccer Tournaments. Gaining quick popularity in beach and barefoot running communities, the founders recognized the potential for this new type of shoe and decided to return to its passion and expertise; innovation. Capitalizing on the emerging barefoot running movement, Sockwa Inc. emphasized the importance of the sole of the shoe in creating their new product line.
Sockwa Inc. headquarters are located in Ventura County, California. The Sockwa team is led by CEO David Zasloff. The company was “founded by creative, driven, hardworking people who follow their passion.” They pride themselves on listening to their customers and creating new products based on needs.
