db-band

Dr. Acula is a 7-piece experimental rock band that typically dabbles in hardcore, metal, punk, and dance rock styles. They are from Lake Ronkonkoma, New York (on Long Island).

The band is currently signed to Uprising Records and also owns their own label called Shock Street Records.
History
Early Years (2005-2006)
They formed in 2005 with the original lineup of Rob on vocals, Bill on guitar, Rob Acula on guitar, Lou Dawg on bass, Mike on drums, Bert Vegas on keyboard and vocals, and Craig on electronics and samples. They released a 6 song EP called "Chillology" in 2006.

Craig left the band shortly thereafter. The band continued on as a 6-piece and began work on their first full-length album "S.L.O.B."

Eventually they replaced Craig with Pete.

In 2007, "S.L.O.B." was released and eventually Rob left and Bert took over lead vocals. Pete would also provide some vocals as well.

Before the end of 2007, drummer Mike left the band and was replaced by a guy named Billy. Pete also left the band but was not replaced.

BelowMe (2008)
In early 2008, Jerrick was added on keyboard so Bert could fully focus on vocals.

Eventually Jerrick would see his way out, and Bert took over keyboards again while handling lead vocals.

Around the spring time, the band had yet another new drummer named Eric, replacing Billy.

The band's second album, "BelowMe", was finally released by Uprising Records in July of 2008. It is unclear who exactly is on BelowMe as no members are listed or pictured on the album but it is safe to assume that all members who has passed through the ranks during its writing contributed to the album in some way.

Shortly after the release of "BelowMe" Bert Vegas left the band and was replaced by Tyler Guida from My Bitter End.

Around the fall of 2008, Pete returned to the band this time as keyboardist/vocalist, and the band had announced work on their next album.

In December 2008 the band announced that Eric had left the band and was yet again, looking for a new drummer.

2009-present
In January of 2009 the new lineup of Dr. Acula was revealed, with the additions of new drummer Drew, and electronics/sampler Joey BadHammer.

The recordings of "Chillology" and "SLOB" have been re-released together as "Slobology".

Since late 2007 Lou and Rob have been known to switch instruments for entire shows, more recently it looks like Lou has decided to permanently stay on guitar and Rob on bass.
