Bonno Ngaka (born 28 July 1984 in Serowe[1]) professionally known as DJ Colastraw, is a Motswana International producer, promoter and a Disk Jockey.[2] DJ Colastraw holds Bachelor of Business Honors in Marketing from the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Botswana Campus.[3]
DJ Colastraw is the director of the annual Toropo ya Muka Music Festival and Colastraw Records.
Early career
[edit]He started his music career in 1999 in Francistown as a Disk Jockey and music producer.[4] As his popularity grew in the country's second Capital City "Francistown", talent agents began to notice his presence. He was then recruited for Botswana Television's Diacha Entertainment Program in 2001 as a gig guide presenter.
In 2006, he became the first artist in Francistown to release a house album which featured Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time (House Remix) which sold more than 10000 copies in Botswana.[4]
Philanthropy initiatives
[edit]DJ Colastraw spearheaded a campaign to raise funds for Obakeng Kgosi's Kidney transplant in Pakistan in collaboration with other DJs. In 2011, he initiated a program called KFC Walk of Hope, a sponsored walk which donated BWP 20, 000. 00 the Lephoi School Deaf in Francistown. This program was founded by KFC South Africa through the BWP 2. 00 donation program which KFC Botswana later followed to donate to SOS.[1]
In collaboration with other DJs including DJ La Timmy, Bonno also initiated the Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign across schools to reverse and eradicate the use of drugs in schools.[4] The main objective of this initiative is to provide the youth in Francistown with information about the harmful effects of alcohol and drug usage.[5]

[edit]This is the name of a track produced by DJ Colastraw for Mo Flava in an album Label called Universal released in July 2011. This track is the fifth in this album.[6][7]
Sound Surgery
[edit]An album featuring house tracks from some of the producers, namely DJ Carea, Santonio Echols (from Detroit) and Alix Richmond from the UK.[8]
Royal Ghetto Grooves
[edit]This album is a collaboration between DJ Colastraw and DJs; DJ Double H, Zops, DJ Phats, and DJ S-Wang, who also helped co-produce the album.[8]
Muvhango
[edit]In 2007 he used to play the role of a businessman on a part-time basis on a South African Venda drama Muvhango, which airs on SABC 2 from Monday to Thursday.[8]
International collaborations and performance
[edit]internationally, Colastraw performed in countries like Malaysia, Spain, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and South Africa where he was a resident DJ for seven years.[1][8][2]

[edit]This production is a collaboration between DJ Colastraw and Nnjadini (former Backstage and Generations actor). The album being produced both in Botswana and South Africa was done by producers like, Tronix former Mzambia's producer in his debut album.[8]
