Charlyne Yi (born January 4, 1976) is a performance artist. Her approach to comedy has drawn many comparisons to Andy Kaufman and the Paul Reubens character, Pee-wee Herman. [1]
Biography
In October 2004, Yi broke into the world of comedy by performing at AA meetings, veterans' homes, and biker bars throughout the town of Fontana, California.[2] She has since performed shows at The Steve Allen Theater, The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, the New York Comedy Festival [3] and HBO's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado.[2]
Yi's film debut was June 1st 2007 in Judd Apatow's film, Knocked Up.[2]
