Solve It Software Pty Ltd is a provider of enterprise software solutions for supply and demand optimisation and predictive modelling, based in Adelaide, Australia.
History
The company was set up in 2004 by ex-Ernst and Young consultant Matthew Michalewicz, who had moved to Adelaide in 2004 after selling his last company, NuTech.[1]
Operations
The company develops business optimisation software, which helps manage complex operations using artificial intelligence. Most of the products were initially developed around the key South Australian industries of wine, grain handling and mining. The software helps companies predict and plan their production, supply chain, shipping and currency hedging.[1]
Head quartered in Adelaide, the company has operational offices in: Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Chişinău, Moldova.[2]
Current customers include BHP Billiton, BMA Coal, CBH Group, Fortescue Metals Group[4] and Xstrata Coal.[5]
Due to the highly complex nature of the software systems that the company develops and deploys, the company deploys a prize-based system to engage the brightest talent, and hence recruit. In 2011, the company deployed a Magic square problem, won by University of Nottingham graduate Yuri Bykov, who developed a program which solved a constrained version of a 2600 by 2600 magic square within a minute.[1]
