Ys (イース, Īsu, [iːsu]) /iːs/ is a Japanese role-playing video game series, and Nihon Falcom corporation's flagship franchise.[1] The series started on the PC-8801 in 1987. The games take place in a fictional world with some geographical resemblance to Earth, and chronicle the adventures of Adol Christin, a red-haired swordsman, and his companions. Ys titles have appeared on the MSX2, FM-7, Master System, Mega Drive, Famicom, Super Famicom, Nintendo DS, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, TurboGrafx-CD, mobile, and on the Wii's Virtual Console service from Nintendo. Two separate OVA anime series of Ys have been released, as well as many soundtracks based on the games' music.
