Ys (イース, Īsu, [iːsu]) /s/ is a Japanese role-playing video game series, and Nihon Falcom corporation's flagship franchise.[1] The series started on the PC-8801 in 1987. The games take place in a fictional world with some geographical resemblance to Earth, and chronicle the adventures of Adol Christin, a red-haired swordsman, and his companions. Ys titles have appeared on the MSX2, FM-7, Master System, Mega Drive, Famicom, Super Famicom, Nintendo DS, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, TurboGrafx-CD, mobile, and on the Wii's Virtual Console service from Nintendo. Two separate OVA anime series of Ys have been released, as well as many soundtracks based on the games' music.

The Chinese and Korean servers were shut down in 2010 and the Japanese in October 2011. In October 2012, the service was terminated in Taiwan, which was the last active server of the game.

  • The PlayStation Portable version is based on the first remake for the 2001 Microsoft Windows version[25] while the 2013 Microsoft Windows version is purchased as a set for Steam, but Ys I and Ys II appear separately in your game list.
