They are found naturally in woodlands and other forest patches. Other than these natural habitats, it was found abundantly from disturbed habitats like garbage dumps, drains and sewage. Argiope pulchella, commonly called Garden cross spider, is a species of orb spiders (belonging to the family Araneidae). It ranges from India to China and can be found on Java. It builds a web with a zig-zag stabilimentum. This species has a pentagonal opisthosoma (abdomen).

Description

Female is larger than male. Female 8-10 mm, Male 4-6 mm. Carapace dark yellow with white hair. Sternum heart-shaped. Anterior part is brown with a white patch. Abdomen slightly pentagonal. Legs long, and dark yellow. Female has brownish cephalothorax. Dorsum bright yellow in color with three horizontal black bands. Ventrum with black and yellow mottles.
