The following is a list of characters in the television series 24

by season and event. It includes some relatively minor characters not considered part of the main cast, and "bad guys". It is not, however, a complete list.
CTU
Jack Bauer
Jack Bauer
Jack Bauer is a fictional character and the lead protagonist of the Fox television series 24. His character has worked in various capacities on the show, often as a member of the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) based in Los Angeles, and working with the FBI in Washington, D.C. during season 7.
Within the 24 storyline, Bauer is a key member of the CTU, its director in Season 1, and is often portrayed as their most capable agent. Bauer's job usually involves helping prevent major terrorist attacks on the United States, saving both civilian lives and government administrations. On many occasions, Jack does so at great personal expense, as those he thwarts subsequently target him and his loved ones. He is not a crooked agent; however, Bauer's frequent use of torture to gather information has generated much controversy and discussion.

The list first names the actor, followed by the character.
Actor Kiefer Sutherland portrays Jack Bauer in the television show and video game. The television series was originally set to end on May 24, 2010 after eight successful seasons but was renewed for a ninth season, which premiered on May 5, 2014. A feature film was set to be released; however, discussions ended over a contract dispute with Fox.

Some characters have their own pages; see the box below.
Tony Almeida
Tony Almeida is a fictional character portrayed by Carlos Bernard on the television series 24. Almeida appeared in a total of 126 episodes (including 24: Legacy), the second highest number of episodes of any character in the series, third being Chloe O'Brian (125) and first being Jack Bauer (192), portrayed by Mary Lynn Rajskub and Kiefer Sutherland, respectively.

Chase Edmunds
Chase Edmunds is a fictional character (portrayed by James Badge Dale) on Fox's 24. He first appeared in Day 3 as Jack Bauer's partner, and was romantically involved with Kim Bauer. He later appeared as a playable character in 24: The Game, the story of which took place prior to the events of Day 3.

24: Season 1
James Badge Dale, the actor who was cast for the role of Chase, said that he didn't think he "was right for [the role]". He continued to say of the character, that "He's not afraid to do what he wants, he idolizes Jack and he is trying to prove himself. ===Drazen's family and associates===
According to a New York Times review by Walter Dawkins, Bill Buchanan functions as a stoic center figure for the show's Counter Terrorist Unit. Executive producer Howard Gordon describes the balance Buchanan provides: "We feel like we don't want to take his hand off the steering wheel because it's so steady. He's sort of the grown-up in the room, the straight man for other people who certainly make it a more colorful place to watch." The occasions when Buchanan's temper does flare carry dramatic weight because of their rarity. Dawkins notes a brief outburst when a terrorist escapes during season six, episode four for being "as explosive as anything else that hour". Actor James Morrison describes the importance of such scenes. "If you pick those moments where he does have that quick explosion, then everyone will take notice."
