- For more information about article rescue, please refer to ARS Tips to help rescue articles and ARS Rescue guide
- For additional article improvement listings, check out this project's archives and listings at WikiProject Cleanup
This is a list and discussion of Wikipedia content for rescue consideration. When posting here, please be sure to:
- First familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's guidelines for topic notability and identifying reliable sources, as well as the prohibition on inappropriate canvassing
- Include a specific rationale why the article/content should be retained on Wikipedia, and any ideas to improve the content. Please ensure that your comment here is neutrally worded. (You can also !vote to delete an article at its deletion discussion because you think it is untenable in its present state, and still list it here in the hope that another editor will find a way to improve it and save it.)
- You should disclose in a deletion discussion that a post has been made at the rescue list.
- Sign posts with four tildes ~~~~.
- Place the {{subst:rescue list|~~~~}} template in Articles for deletion discussions, to notify editors about the listing here. The tag can be placed below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
The following templates can be used for articles listed here:
- *{{Find sources|Article name}} - Adds source search options
- *{{lagafd|Article name}} - Adds relevant links
- *{{lagafd|Article name|Article name (2nd nomination)}} - Likewise but for page nominated twice
- *{{lagafd|Article name|Article name (3rd nomination)}} - Likewise but for page nominated 3 times
- *{{lagafd|Article name|Article name (Nth nomination)}} - Likewise but for page nominated N ≥ 4 times

These two are currently redirects, and the old article contents were moved to Draft:Lycanthrope (Dungeons & Dragons) and Draft:Undead (Dungeons & Dragons) earlier this year after their AFDs in hopes that they could one day be restored to article space. 2601:249:8B80:4050:8918:F0BC:E864:4A8E (talk) 13:30, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

Possibly the most famous character created by Gary Gygax. 8.37.179.254 (talk) 15:09, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
(Last one for now, I promise - I didn't want to list all three at once to be overwhelming, and all the other articles I restored or started have been successfully restored by other editors.)
I built this article from an existing redirect, using one review and some citations from the article it redirected to. An editor restored the redirect, but I took another look as I should have done and found three more reviews and another source as you can see in this version of the article, but it was still reverted by another editor; can anyone help me find additional sources to help assert notability? 2601:243:1C00:E800:DC2B:6DF7:CF88:4464 (talk) 01:26, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
- I restored it. [1] There are enough sources to prove it meets the general notability guidelines. You need to write something about the gameplay. You can search for YouTube videos and see what it was all about as well. I did that earlier with another such article you created. [2] Dream Focus 03:37, 14 September 2020 (UTC)

I restored this article which was previously redirected in 2013, but it was reverted. I restored it again to add more reviews and other WP:RS but the same user reverted it again. I tried once more and demonstrated that I had links to four reviews plus other sources as seen in this version of the article, but it was reverted yet again by another user; can anyone help me find additional sources to help assert notability? 2601:243:1C00:E800:DC2B:6DF7:CF88:4464 (talk) 05:23, 13 September 2020 (UTC)
- I might recommend adding the content to the Robert S. Harris article and editing it there until you have enough to establish notability. It makes it easier than fighting over the stub versus redirect while you're trying to work on it. Normal Op (talk) 07:01, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

I built an article on this early Disney video game from an existing redirect, but it was reverted. Someone helped me find several WP:RS to bring it up to five reviews in the article (and links to two more non-English reviews) to this version of the article, and yet it was still reverted for some reason; can anyone help me find additional sources to help assert notability? 2601:243:1C00:E800:DC2B:6DF7:CF88:4464 (talk) 16:16, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
- You found ample proof of notability, just someone made a mistake, or didn't bother to read the current version of the article. I reverted them back to your last version. Dream Focus 16:50, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you, Dream Focus! 2601:243:1C00:E800:DC2B:6DF7:CF88:4464 (talk) 20:26, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
- I formatted a source here. To demonstrate. In this case we see Electronic Fun with Computers & Games is a notable magazine with its own article - a reliable source. This was previously uncertain. There is the author, title and page number of the article such that anyone can read it and see it is non-trivial and length. The "cite journal" is also impressive to many readers as it usually indicates a quality source. All this improves the impression the article is based on quality sources, making it less susceptible to negative attention. -- GreenC 23:35, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

- Aliza Ayaz (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs|google) AfD discussion
Aliza Ayaz is an international youth climate activist. I think that at least some of the current references could be used to secure at least a stub or start class article. Esowteric+Talk 09:18, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
Ignore the "paid editing" template: The first edit to the article was by Az.jooma with the edit summary "KGS IT staff creating page". KGS is likely "Karachi Grammar School" which the subject attended. So the article could just as easily have been created by staff and students who share an interest in their relatively-illustrious one-time student. Certainly these editors look more like novices than professionals. Esowteric+Talk 09:24, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
- It used to be we used a COI tag for cases like this, but the paid editor banner is becoming more frequent because the "$" symbol gets people's attention - too bad as it dilutes the banners real meaning (companies that are paid to edit Wikipedia on a client's behalf). There is no evidence of anyone being paid for the express purpose of editing Wikipedia. -- GreenC 14:01, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, COI is something to consider. Esowteric+Talk 14:07, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
Current refs World Urban Forum (ref 1, perhaps, minor); ARY News.tv (ref 2); BrandSynario (ref 3, perhaps: depends on how material is sourced); Geo News (ref 5) look reliable to me. Bloomsbury Festival (ref 20) looks reliable for uncontroversial material; ditto Events at Cambridge Students' Union (ref 22); and The News International (ref 31). Esowteric+Talk 14:07, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
Update by one of the page editors: Have added and double checked at least 10 independent sources to confirm genuinity and notability on the page itself. These include the United Nations itself (World Urban Forum), the official Bloomsbury Festival which is popular local festival, the official University College London (world famous university), multiple independent news platforms: The News International, Geo News, ARY News, DAWN news. Have removed any quotes that were first flagged as possible "COI" or un-neutral tones. They were initially references to podcasts and hence, this may have appeared as linked to "a close connection" or non-neutral, but this has been removed now. The article should be ok to keep now, hopefully! Any suggestions welcome. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Studentsunion (talk • contribs) 00:50, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
- Many thanks! The Career section is a close paraphrase or direct copy in parts, and it needs looking at. Short quotes can be used directly, in "quotes", with a reference after each quotation. Three articles nominated so far. There are dozens of list articles about people dying in various places by various types of animals. Plus many more about people dying from all manner of other things. Anyway, are there any published government documents, scientific studies, or reliable sources covering this enough to prove it notable? Dream Focus 16:38, 5 September 2020 (UTC)
- This particular list (part of a set of three, which are all splits from a too-large main article) is occasionally attacked by advocates who want this information suppressed (not as an improvement of the encyclopedia, but for their advocacy). - That information can't really be suppressed, right? There are probably statistics available on which type of dogs kill most, these statistics can be easily added to Fatal dog attacks article. Wikipedia shouldn't be used as a database to store every single instance of fatal dog attack that made it to the local news. Regards, TryKid [dubious – discuss] 07:43, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

As another change from the usual deletion debates, here's a topic which is In the News. The page is new and seems difficult to source in English so someone with expertise in Indian languages might be able to help expand it. Andrew🐉(talk) 13:41, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

The Google news results have a lot to sort through. But having that many places mentioning the character, surely some of them give enough detail about him to count. Dream Focus 01:08, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

- Joost de Valk (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs|google) AfD discussion
- Sadly this is a spillover from a discussion at ANI - Levivich pontificated about the merits of the article and JzG agreed with the comments, and then JzG redirected the article, when I reverted, it was immediately nominated for deletion by JzG. The article was started from scratch just a few days ago, WP:IMPERFECT and has nothing to do with the first AfD. There is a Business Insider article which appears in the de Valk article, and a PC Magazine article (which is not yet in the article). I am sure we can find more in Dutch sources. Google Joost de Valk and 388,000 is the number. No primary sources needed, as there are enough which were used to establish work history. WC. Never give up!
