Hello Cheesy McGee,
I assume that you genuinely want to contribute to the Wikipedia project. However adding text like this "Someone add a bio thing, I don't know how, and potentially add more info. Also, remove this once done. Cheers. -Cheesy McGee (page creator)" does not inspire confidence. Perhaps if you want to write Wikipedia articles, you might be like to consider the Wikipedia:Articles for creation process.

Two out of three sources you have added do not back any claims in article and one is only to say fixtures will be announced. In addition they are not sources that would be enough to define whether something meets WP:GNG and at present this article is not of the standard required to be on wikipedia, nor is it clear its notable. Hello, Cheesy McGee. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "YouTube Boxing Championship".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Dolotta (talk) 16:30, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Anthony Low (footballer)

Hello, Cheesy McGee. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Anthony Low".

Snowycats (talk) 14:17, 9 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Guy Kerr requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Request reason:

been blocked for updating football biographies of current players. I request that I get unblocked as most of the updates were on previously unsourced pages, in addition to that I update based on Transfermarkt stats (which most mods dislike for some reason), as the other site editors use either doesn't give correct goal statistics and/or it has a very small selection of leagues recognised, so it's impossible to update a players article which has been collecting dust unless you use transfermarkt or are in the know of that one specific player. As for the lack of sources, most of the time it entirely slips my mind as I just want to do a quick update and be on my way to the next article that's been sitting on the shelf collecting dust, and other times I just feel it's a massive hassle to do it on my mobile. Sorry if this last part sounds like a bit of a rant, but for the love of Christ, can you stop undoing edits because of no sources, when you just REWROTE WHAT I DID AND PUT SOURCES! If it's that big a deal that you want to make your contribution, either A) Get there first, or B) Put the sources in yourself. It's a waste of both my time and your time if you undo my work just to put it back in word for word yourself. I am in no way shape or form a vandal on the football side of wikipedia (though according to some bots I allegedly am, but those bots are hopeless at detecting fact from fiction) and all my inputs have been (albeit without sources, as explained above) helpful and useful to making sure players biographies are up to scratch and not stuck on a previous update from 4 years ago. Thank you for your time, hope to hear back from whoever's in charge of unbanning. Cheesy McGee (talk) 10:00, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I'm confused. You seem to be attempting to justify having your block extended indefinitely rather than demonstrating you understand WP:RS and WP:CITE and committing to providing citations for all of the edits you make. Are you really, really sure you wish to take this approach?!? Yamla (talk) 10:03, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

So you admit to use a site (Transfermarkt) that you know is deemed unsuitable (because it's not a reliable source), and you admit to editing biographies without using sources, and you think that behaviour, which has been ongoing for years (given the amount of warnings you have collected for the same conduct from various other editors/admins), and you do not see a problem with any of that? GiantSnowman 10:34, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Snowman, I'm not trying to start a fight here, but why is Transfermarkt "not a reliable source" when the other sites used for the biographies etc are far less useful when they carry not even half the clubs listed by Transfermarkt. Been to way too many players to update them, looked at the site and compared it to Transfermarkt, and there's an absolute ton of clubs been skipped out or massive chunks of "inactivity" because said club is not in the other sites database. As said prior, the sources on mobile are a hassle, as I already have the long dash in the copy paste slot or articles on said player are non existent making it impossible to put a source to the name. There has been no vandalism committed whatsoever, and I keep getting called up for that or unsourced material (like now) even though None. Have. Been. Vandalism. I want to help, but it does my nut when I get pinged for something literally nobody would care about. Seriously, who would go to an obscure 5 years retired Scottish footballer's wiki page and look for sources linking to a site which has questionable stats and skips seasons because a club isn't in their database? To be brutally honest, it's a joke. I'd understand if I was going onto Lionel Messi's page and adding Nairn County with 153 goals in 32 appearances, but I'm not, I'm adding clubs and clubs only based on comparing the two sites. If it gives stats, then I'll put them in, but if not, I'll leave it blank. But getting on my back every single time I make a constructive update over a small link at the bottom of the page that nobody will ever go to, is ridiculous. Cheesy McGee (talk) 11:43, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting us know. I have extended your block indefinitely. Any admin is free to unblock you once you demonstrate a clear understanding of WP:RS and WP:CITE and commit to always citing your stats edits with reliable sources accepted by Wikipedia consensus. This is not an infinite block; it may be lifted today or tomorrow or next year, whenever you demonstrate a clear understanding and commitment to our policies. --Yamla (talk) 11:59, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cheesy McGee (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Hi, I have read through both the articles posted about sourcing and the likes. I apologise if any of my edits were disruptive, however, that was never the intent of the edits, I just wanted pages to be up to scratch. From here on out I will provide sources to my edits. Going off on a slight tangent here to also say that I also appeal the blocking due to being a primary editor on a page which gets limited to no editorial traffic, and hasn't seen any updates at all in the time I've been out of action. Once again, I promise that I will source any additions I make to any page. Hell, even if you reduce it to a set date, I'd be happy, updating wiki pages has eleviated the boredom of COVID and being out of work, and having a indefinite block that could end who knows when, is making me frustrated with A) Myself, for shooting myself in the foot for not providing sources for my many edits, and B) The fact the page I main on has been collecting dust because of my actions. Also, on a sidenote, I'd like to also apologise for the claims of my previous request being ignored, it was a heat of the moment accusation after a little over a fortnight of radio silence, when in reality, I doubt it reached anyone's inboxes. Thanks, Cheesy McGee (talk) 03:41, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I'm inclined to unblock, but could you first give a brief explanation of what a reliable source is, in your own words? You might find it helpful to give examples of reliable and unreliable sources as part of your answer. signed, Rosguill talk 18:20, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A reliable source would be where one source is saying the same (or similar) thing as multiple other sources. In this context Transfermarkt is a less reliable source as on most occasions it does not repeat what the other sources of information are saying on the player in question. Cheesy McGee (talk) 20:08, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is absolutely not what a reliable source is. Hint: WP:RS goes into some detail. --Yamla (talk) 20:18, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, if you ever get unblocked, WP:RSP usally goes into the problems Wikipedia has with a specific source. Victor Schmidt (talk) 20:22, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As Yamla already said, wrong answer. Try again. signed, Rosguill talk 21:13, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, for a source to be reliable, it has to be from a non-biaed and known author/publisher, as opposed to a largely unknown website, book or author, or an article which is more opinionated as opposed to a factual one. The work itself can also be challenged on its reliability if it's from say, a leaflet or a poster as opposed to a biography. Cheesy McGee (talk) 22:03, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: Apologies again, I messed that up, the segment "an article which is more opinionated as opposed to a factual one" should be flipped around. Cheesy McGee (talk) 22:05, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, while this is a bit of an improvement over the previous answer, it's still wrong. I'm going to decline the open unblock request now. I'd suggest that you study WP:RS more carefully and look through some of the other pages linked in its See also section before opening a new unblock request with an answer to this question. You may also find it helpful to read through discussions at WP:RSN to get a sense of what discussions about specific sources' notability look like in practice. signed, Rosguill talk 22:37, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If I may, I would like to forward a third attempt on being unblocked. Doing deeper research in the page Rosguill suggested, I've realised that infact, for a source to be deemed "reliable", the source cannot be from a non-self published source either on a particular topic or on themselves, nor can it be from a questionable source that is known for its unreliability in fact checking, other wiki articles can also be classified as unreliable. Such examples of self-published "sources" are; forum posts/comments, books, social media posts, or personal blogs. In terms of self-published articles, they under no circumstances, should be used for articles on living people. Thank you for your time, if anyone does read this. Cheesy McGee (talk) 18:11, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No. Not correct. See for example, WP:ABOUTSELF. Frankly, you just aren't getting it. I'm not sure what the problem is. Are you not reading the policies? Are you not following the links to understand more about the various bits? Are you trying to just find the key words that might result in your block being lifted, rather than trying to comprehend what the policies say? This is deeply concerning, and really quite time consuming. I'm unsure what to suggest here. We've repeatedly told you to read the policies, but it doesn't seem to have helped. I believe you could be a constructive member of the community, but not when it's this hard to get you to understand WP:RS. I'm tempted to simply revoke talk page access at this point, but maybe someone else has some ideas? --Yamla (talk) 18:23, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi all, hope you're doing well, I would like to forward another request to be unblocked. It's been some time (longer than you might prefer, but hey ho). A reliable source is one that comes from a site which isn't based around rumours, gossip, promotions, self published sources are also not regarded as reliable nor are sources which have a record of poor reliability in terms of fact checking. On the contrary, mainstream media would count as a reliable source which includes blog post and magazine articles by professionals. Fingers crossed this gets seen, and to make sure I will file another appeal alongside this. Cheers, Cheesy McGee (talk) 02:45, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

Welcome back. Per our agreement below, as an unblock condition, you are indefinitely topic banned from editing articles (including drafts) about living and recently deceased people and from making statements about such people in other articles, broadly construed? You can appeal the topic ban at any time at WP:AN, preferably after having contributed to different areas of the encyclopedia for at least one year. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:27, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cheesy McGee,
do you agree, as a binding unblock condition, to an indefinite topic ban from editing articles (including drafts) about living and recently deceased people and from making statements about such people in other articles, broadly construed. You can appeal the topic ban at any time at WP:AN, preferably after having contributed to different areas of the encyclopedia for at least one year.
Best regards,

Hi ToBeFree, Yes, I agree to those terms. Thanks, Cheesy McGee (talk) 01:19, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@GiantSnowman, Yamla, and Rosguill: It's been a while and the possible damage is limited by a ban. Thoughts? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 12:17, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Happy with this per WP:ROPE. GiantSnowman 12:29, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No objections from me, either. --Yamla (talk) 13:00, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
