Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Edit this section if you want to move a request from Uncontroversial to Contested.
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Capital Cities/ABC Inc. (currently a redirect to Capital Cities/ABC) → Capital Cities/ABC (move · discuss) – WP:NCCORP Nouvemive (talk) 00:03, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- EHRC–OHCRC Tigray investigation (currently a redirect to EHRC–OHCHR Tigray investigation) → EHRC–OHCHR Tigray investigation (restricted by the titleblacklist, which page movers can override) (move · discuss) – Fix an error in the acronym that was my fault and that nobody noticed before now. See the Wikipedia consensus on the correct (English) acronym. The move is blocked technically due to a regular expression forbidding, it seems to me, 10 capital letters interspersed with other (non-space) letters, where an en dash is considered to be a letter. Boud (talk) 22:38, 23 October 2021 (UTC) (Either the space is considered a letter or the en dash is considered to be a unicode upper case letter, it seems to me. Boud (talk) 22:47, 23 October 2021 (UTC))
- The Heath (currently a redirect to Heath (disambiguation)) → The Heath, Staffordshire (move · discuss) – No obvious primary topic over other places with this name and the likes of Heath Brothers and Ipswich Heaths comes up in Google. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:54, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- Bird's wing (currently a redirect to Bird wing) → Bird wing (move) – Better and more fluid title. See also Bird flight, Bird anatomy, Bird vocalization, etc. (none of these has "Bird's" in the title). Super Ψ Dro 19:06, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- Daphne Dorman (comedian) (currently a redirect to The Closer (2021 film)) → Daphne Dorman (currently a redirect instead to The Closer (2021 film)) (move) – Only article with the title. Waddles 🗩 🖉 21:05, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
Administrator needed
Edit this section if a request requires an administrator (e.g., because the page to be moved is move-protected or the target is creation-protected). Place the request in another section if it only requires a page mover.
- Animal rights and the Holocaust (currently a redirect to Holocaust analogy in animal rights) → Animal cruelty and the Holocaust analogy (currently a redirect instead to Holocaust analogy in animal rights) (move · discuss) – Per RM closure. VR talk 18:56, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
- Kepler–Poinsot polyhedron → Kepler–Poinsot polyhedra (currently a redirect back to Kepler–Poinsot polyhedron) (move · discuss) – WP:PLURAL#Exceptions: there are exactly 4 such objects. D.Lazard (talk) 09:34, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- Platonic solid → Platonic solids (currently a redirect back to Platonic solid) (move · discuss) – WP:PLURAL#Exceptions: there are exactly 5 platonic solids. D.Lazard (talk) 09:18, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- The two requests to move to plural are not uncontroversial. Better to create a move request. Vpab15 (talk) 10:02, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- WP:PLURAL#Exceptions applies here without any doubt, as, when talking to a unspecified such polyhdron, people use, depending on the case, "star-shaped regular polyhedron" or "convex regular polyhedron". So the singular is not commonly used in both case. D.Lazard (talk) 10:21, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- Without (The X-Files) → Without (move · discuss) – There is no other article with this title. Tree Critter (talk) 04:18, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- I see your point, but I don't feel comfortable doing this one, because it's such a common word. Perhaps somebody with more experience than me can help. Dr. Vogel (talk) 10:36, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- Per WP:DAB:When a disambiguation page lists only one existing article by that name (...) The existing article is not automatically the primary topic nor is there automatically no primary topic. (...) If there is no primary topic, then the disambiguation page should be the primary landing page. I don't see any reason to consider the X-Files episode a primary topic here, so the status quo is correct. 162 etc. (talk) 18:13, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

- This (Darius Rucker song) (currently a redirect to This (song)) → This (song) (move · discuss) – The only article for a song with this title, per WP:SONGDAB. Tree Critter (talk) 04:23, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- I see your point, but I don't feel comfortable doing this one, because it's such a common word, and there are many songs with that title, even if only one of them currently has an article. Perhaps somebody with more experience than me can help. Dr. Vogel (talk) 10:36, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- @DrVogel: WP:SONGDAB explicitly states that if there is only one song with an article, then further disambiguation is not required. If you don't mind, I'll gladly perform this move. Lennart97 (talk) 17:29, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
