Rollback

This feature would help me a lot since I often have to revert several vandalizing edits in a row, and manual revert takes a lot of time. Deltaspace42 (talk) 21:51, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not done I noticed you started actively editing about a week ago. While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I'd like to see you spend at least a month gaining experience editing Wikipedia before assigning you advanced permissions. Thanks, FASTILY 21:56, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. Deltaspace42 (talk) 22:01, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have read the guidelines on WP:ROLLBACK and I always leave reasons while reverting. I have never felt the need for this as undo works well. But today I came to know something new. WP:Ultraviolet tool says about rollback, "The method of reversion to use. Rollback requires the rollback right, but is much faster than a standard undo. Psuedo-rollback (also known as "rollback-like") requires no special rights, but is slower than rollback (especially for slower connections)." If this is indeed true as the tool says, I would like to check the speed. Venkat TL (talk) 10:35, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have looked at the block log, the unblock discussion and the state of the affected articles from July again, and this is one of the rare cases where a relatively recent edit warring block does not noticeably affect the decision. One may be concerned about the desire for "speed", but that's the speed of the actions that happen in the background after having made a decision. If this speed has an effect on the reviewing time, it will rather be a positive one (more time can be spent on thinking to achieve the same result).
The most positive part is "I always leave reasons while reverting". That's highly commendable, combined with your specific, sometimes manually written, messages to reverted users. Venkat TL, please keep it that way. By providing reasons for each edit, you alleviate most of the concerns that are described in WP:ROLLBACKUSE, making this a rather technical decision. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:59, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
